Independent School District 88

The School Board of Independent School District 88 met in regular session on Thursday, January 22, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Annex Administration Building. Members present: Steve Wachter, Brian Wieland, Carol Ackerson, Marc Burkhart, Susan Nierengarten, Sheldon Rieke, and Sue Ullery. Also present: Supt. Harold Remme, Bill Sprung, and Donna Luhring. Guests: Scott Hogen and Chandler Holland.

The meeting was called to order and guests were welcomed by Chairperson Ullery at 7:00 p.m.

1. Ackerson/Rieke approval of consent items as presented: approval of agenda; approval of January 8, 2004 meeting minutes; approval of wire transfers totaling $1,393,434.12; acceptance of donations; acceptance of the resignations of Susan Clough, Peggy Linsmeier and retirements of Tom Macho and Ted Sauers; personnel- Jackie Braun; approval of an Extended Day Contract for Annette Wulff and spring extracurricular contracts; and approval of Open Enrollment applications for Anna Uehling, and Hannah and Landon Hagen. (6-0)

2. Information Reports- Superintendent's Report, DCAC Committee Report, Negotiations Update, MSBA Conference Report, Transportation Committee Report, and Announcements.

3. Dialogue Time: Chandler Holland from IEA and Scott Hogen discussed alternative options for heating/ventilation in ISD 88. Marc Burkhart shared information regarding Minnesota State High School League Bowling.

4. Nierengarten/Wieland approval of the 2003-2005 Master Agreement with ISD 88 Food Service & Laundry Employees. (7-0)

5. Nierengarten/Wachter approval of the 2003-2005 Master Agreement with New Ulm Education Minnesota. (7-0)

6. Nierengarten, second by Burkhart, to endorse the Spanish Trip to Costa Rica in June of 2004 conditional upon signed waivers by all participants. (7-0)

7. Wieland/Rieke to prepare specification and to advertise for bids for a food service management company for one year beginning with the 2004-2005 school year with the option of renewal for an additional four consecutive years. (7-0)

8. Wieland/Rieke approval of the bills for audit for January 23, 2004. (7-0)

9. Nierengarten/Ackerson approval of the mediated settlement agreement for placement of a second grade student at a school site outside district boundaries for the 2003-2004 school year. (7-0)

10. Wieland/Wachter to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 p.m. (7-0)
