The School Board of Independent School District 88 met in regular session on Thursday, February 12, 2004 at 7:00p.m. in the Board Room of the Annex Administration Building. Members present: Brian Wieland, Carol Ackerson, Marc Burkhart, Susan Nierengarten, Sheldon Rieke, Sue Ullery, and Steve Wachter. Also present: Superintendent Harold Remme, Dir. of Curriculum/Instruction/Personnel Bill Sprung, Business Manager Donna Luhring. Guests: Patty and Al Hoffman, Jen Backer, and Charles Stephens.
The meeting was called to order and guests were welcomed by Chairperson Ullery at 7:00 p.m.
1. Wachter/Ackerson approval of consent items as presented: declared a legal meeting; approval of agenda; approval of January 22, 2004 meeting minutes; approval of wire transfers totaling $1,120,112.68; acceptance of donations; acceptance of the retirements of Mary Paulson and Nancy Besse; personnel- Irina Soboleva, Anna McGraw, Margaret Conrad; approved Nonresident Agreements for Heather Grennell, Madeleine Joycechild, and Clarie Bastian. (7-0)
2. Information Reports- Superintendent's, Teacher Performance Review, Negotiations Committee, DCAC Committee, Student Committee, Insurance Committee, Activities Committee, Facility Committee Field Trip Report, Policy Committee, Staff Development Committee and Announcements.
3. Dialogue Time: Policy Review and Comment: A first reading of Policy #610 Field Trips and 529 Staff Notification of Violent Behavior by Students was held. Minor revisions were noted. Consideration of dollar amounts for budget reductions for the 2004-05 school year was discussed.
4. Nierengarten/Burkhart to approve a Leave of Absence extension under M.S. 122A.46 for the 2004-05 school year without pay or fringe benefits to Allen Hoffman.(Approved 6-1)
5. Nierengarten/Wieland to approve supplementary payroll for January 2004 and bills for audit. (Approved 7-0)
6. Ackerson/Wieland to adjourn the meeting at 8:57p.m. (7-0)
