Advertisement for Bids

Sealed bids may be delivered to the Office of the City Clerk-Treasurer, Municipal Building, located at 100 North Broadway, New Ulm, Minnesota 56073 prior to the 2:00 P.M. bid opening on Monday, the 28th day of April, 2003.The City will publicly open and read all bids received by the City Clerk-Treasurer immediately thereafter for the furnishing of all labor, tools, equipment, materials and every other article or thing necessary for the complete construction of the following improvement, to-wit:

2003 UTILITY, STREET AND ALLEY IMPROVEMENTS- GROUP I

Work includes improvements to municipal utilities, streets, alleys, and sidewalks at various locations within the City limits of New Ulm, Minnesota.

All bids must be sealed and marked "2003 UTILITY, STREET AND ALLEY IMPROVEMENTS- GROUP I" and each and every proposal must be accompanied by a certified check, cash deposit, or bidder's bond for not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of such bid, payable to the City, to be forfeited to the City in case the successful bidder fails to enter into contract and to furnish satisfactory bond within ten (10) days after acceptance of such bid. The bid will remain subject to acceptance for 45 days after the day of bid opening. The plans and specifications prepared by the City Engineer are on file and may be examined at the City Engineer's Office. Copies of the specifications may be obtained at the Office of the City Engineer, 100 North Broadway, New Ulm, Minnesota 56073.

The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. A deposit of $50.00 will be required for each set of plans and specifications issued. This deposit will be returned upon receipt of the plans and specifications in good condition to all plan holders who return them within 15 days after the opening of bids.

Approximate quantities of work include: 4,500 l.f. water main, 3,000 l.f. sanitary sewer main, 60 l.f. sanitary manhole, 80 each sewer and water end services, 3,800 l.f. remove concrete curb & gutter, 22,400 s.y. remove bituminous pavement, 12,600 c.y. common excavation, 29,000 tons aggregate base, 6,875 tons bituminous pavement, 9,000 l.f. subdrain tubing, 2,900 l.f. storm sewer, 108 l.f. storm manhole, 63 l.f. storm catch basin, 88 each manhole casting, 47,600 s.f. concrete sidewalk, 12,400 l.f. concrete curb and gutter, 1,250 s.y. concrete driveway pavement, 4 ea. electric street light systems, 1.8 acres seeding, and 16,500 s.y. sodding.
