Regular Meeting

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of Independent School District 88, New Ulm, Minnesota, was held on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 7:21p.m. in the Production Lab at New Ulm Senior High School. Members present: Sue Ullery, Steve Wachter, Brian Wieland, Carol Ackerson, Susan Nierengarten, and Sheldon Rieke. Also present: Superintendent Harold Remme, Curriculum/Instruction Director Bill Sprung, and Business Manager Donna Luhring. Absent: Marc Burkhart.

The meeting was called to order and guests were welcomed by Chairperson Ullery at 7:21p.m.

1. Wachter/Wieland to approve the consent agenda items as presented. (Unanimous.) The meeting was declared a legal meeting; approved the agenda; approved the November 24, 2003 minutes; approved the wire transfers totaling $1,120,806.80; accepted donations from Books Are Fun, Peg VanWyngarden, and Tim Babel and Family; accepted the resignation of Cindy Rueckert; approved the Washington Elementary Extended Day Contracts for Janel Sasser, Kevin Maudal, Sarah Shaw, Joyce Resoft, Merry Northenscold; approved the Nonresident Student Attendance Agreement for Desirae Rose; approved the extracurricular contract for Sheldon Rieke. 2. Ms. Marcia Provencher presented the Community Education Project Award to Carol Davis. Mr. Joel Boehlke shared a report on the National Auto Tech Education Foundation. Visitors included Dennis Maday and Mike Lehn. 3. The first reading of Policy #613-Graduation Requirements was read. Letters were received from New Ulm Medical Center and the Senior High Business Department. Visitors included Dave Curry and Toni Hames. 4. The following reports were given: Superintendent's Report by Supt. Harold Remme; Long Range Planning Task Force Report by Carol Ackerson; Facilities Committee Report by Sheldon Rieke; and Announcements by Sue Ullery. 5. Nierengarten/Rieke to approve the bills for audit for December 3, 2003 in the total amount of $120,522.37 as presented. (Unanimous.) 6. Wieland/Rieke to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 p.m. (Unanimous.)
