Edmund Allerson, 92, of Lafayette and formerly of Nicollet died Monday, December 30, 2002 at the St. Peter Community Hospital in St. Peter. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2003 at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland with burial in the church cemetery. The visitation will be at the church from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and will continue on Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet is in charge of the arrangements. Edmund is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Douglas Schultz of Nicollet, Jane and Gareth Holmen of Windom; sons and daughters-in-law John and Julianne Allerson of Naperville, Illinois and James and Janet Allerson of Nicollet, thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Benson, of Northfield; sisters-in-law Ruby Larson of Worthington and Gladys Larson of Gaylord; a brother-in-law, Don Larson, of Rochester; a friend Rosella Palmquist of St. Peter, and by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ireline Allerson, on August 16, 1986; and by sisters, Vernett Nelson, Edith Nelson, and Adeline Allerson. Edmund Allerson, the infant son of John and Agnes (Quist) Allerson, was born July 8, 1910 in Sibley County. He attended District #46 country school in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County. On September 3, 1941 he married Ireline Larson at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church Parsonage in Norseland. After marriage they farmed in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County. He retired in 1982 but continued to help his son with the farm work. Edmund moved to the Zins Apartments in Nicollet in 1999 and then to the Lafayette Good Samaritian Assisted Living in September of 2001. He was a member of the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council and also was very active with the Churchman Visiting Committee. Anna M. Anderson, 103, of Springfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran Home, Springfield. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Springfield, with interment in the Springfield City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9 a.m. Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. She is survived by sons, Andre of Redwood Falls, Lowell of Springfield, Alan of Springfield, and Thomas of Springfield; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter, and one step-great-great-granddaughter. She was born Sept. 23, 1899, in North Star Township, Brown County, to James and Mary (Runck) Gould. Lucille Braun, 76 of Winthrop died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Interment will be in the Winthrop Cemetery. Visitation will be 7:30-8:30 a.m., today at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, and one hour prior to the time of services at the church. Lucille Augusta Selma (Bergs) Braun was born March 27, 1926, in New Auburn Township, Sibley County to Henry and Elsie (Dahlke) Bergs. Lucille is survived by her husband, Willard Braun of Winthrop; son, Rodney Braun of Eden Prairie; daughters, Mavis Zacrep of Evergreen, Colo., Lois Carlson of Eden Prairie, Renee Braun of New Ulm, Mary Braun of New Ulm, and Lori Braun Ruschmeyer of Victoria; and a brother, Luverne Bergs of Henderson. Sara Elisabeth Hartmann, 23 months old, passed away while being comforted by her parents, Dorthe and Mike of Mankato, on Sunday, December 29, 2002, at Fairview University Children's Hospital. Sara won her battle against Leukemia, but became a victim of its rigorous treatment. Sara was an extraordinary person who showed tremendous courage in the face of pain and uncertainty. Her zest for life was unparalleled and her tenacity and determination left those who knew her in awe. Sara loved playing with stickers, watching Barney and snuggling with her favorite stuffed bear and best friend, "nite-nite". She also enjoyed stroller rides, songs and reading books. She will be forever loved and remembered by her parents, Dorthe and Mike, her brother, Kristian, and sister, Emma, whom Sara adored. She will be sadly missed by family in Wisconsin, California, Denmark, and Germany. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather. Her legacy and memory will be in our hearts forever! Alvin Havemeier, 84, of 1610 Sunset Avenue in New Ulm died Monday, December 30, 2002 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Imman-uel Lutheran Church in rural Court-land with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8 a.m. on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Alvin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hattie Havemeier of New Ulm; a daughter and son-in-law, Violet and Jerry Plagge of rural Courtland; grandchildren, Ken Plagge and his special friend, Margie Tomlinson both of Minneapolis, Steve and Jane Plagge of Apple Valley, Jerry (Butch) and Ronette Plagge of Richfield, and Pamela Plagge of Minneapolis; great grandchildren, Tristen, Nicholas and Elliot Plagge; and step great grandchildren, Mason, Felix, and Ysabel Tomlinson; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Lindquist of St. James; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Erich Knaak of Lewisville, and Melvin and Dorothy Baumgard of Vernon Center; and many nieces and nephews. Alvin was the last surviving grandchild of the early settlers of Courtland, Johann Conrad Havemeyer and Sophie Becker, immigrants from Vornhagen (Shaumberg Lippe) Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herbert, Henry, Harry and Walter; and sisters, Helen, Hilda, Hortensie, Hertha, Viola, Verna, Irene and Beatrice; nephews, Delroy Zimmerman, Duane Dallmann and Mervin Reed. Alvin was born April 12, 1918 in Courtland Township, Nicollet County to August and Louise (Reese) Havemeier. He attended county school in Courtland Township, Nicollet County. On October 27, 1946 he married Hattie Baumgard at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. After marriage they farmed in rural Courtland until 1983. They lived on their home place in Courtland until 1998 at which time they moved to the Sunset Apartments in New Ulm. In September of 2002 Alvin moved to Fairfax Community Home where he remained until his death. Alvin had a great love for history and family heritage and enjoyed singing songs of his grandfathers homeland, Germany. He enjoyed the music of Germany and coming to Heritagefest. Alvin and Hattie loved dancing and old time polka music. To some cousins he had the nicknames of 'Doc' and 'Pete' but to others especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren he was known as 'The Champ'. He loved to be the champ as he played horseshoes (early days) darts, pool and cards. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends until his health would not allow. Alvin was a gruff but loving man and his faith in the Lord sustained him during many health problems he had in the last years of his life. Alvin was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland. Helene Heckmann, 80, formerly of 810 1st South Street in New Ulm, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-11 a.m. on Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and then will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church. n lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Heckmann Scholarship Fund at Martin Luther College in New Ulm. A complete obituary will appear in Friday's edition of The Journal. Walter M. Miesen, 89, of Lamberton, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003 at the Springfield Medical Center Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton. Leonard F. Schiro, 86, of Hutchinson, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Penn Township, McLeod County. Burial with military rites by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad will be held in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until services Saturday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling arrangements. He was born July 13, 1916 in Round Grove Township, McLeod County to Edward and Amanda (Rennecke) Schiro. He served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II, from Feb. 9, 1942 to Jan. 5, 1946. Adelia Schramm, 90, of Belle Plaine died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2002 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine with burial in Elmhurst Cemetery, St. Paul. Visitation is Friday at the church, one hour prior to the service. The Kolden Funeral Home of Belle Plaine is handling arrangements. She is survived by two daughters, Leila Strickholm of Bloomington and Joan Meyer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Rev. David Plocher of Waterloo, Wis; daughter-in-law Dorothy Klockziem of New Ulm; two brothers, Erwin Martin of Prescott Valley, Ariz. and Elmer Martin of Blue Earth; a sister, Elvera Kabe of Albert Lea; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren. She was born March 25, 1912 in Elmore to Gustav and Anna Martin. Kimberly Ann Severson, 17, of Sleepy Eye, died Tuesday, Dec.31, 2002 as the result of a traffic accident North East of Sleepy Eye. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Satur-day, January 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with Fr. Brian Oestereich officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m Friday at the funeral home. Survivors include her parents, Paul and Susan Severson of Sleepy Eye; sisters, Theresa and husband Scott Stimpert of Winthrop, and Amanda Severson and special friend Will Hornick of Sleepy Eye; brothers, Jason Severson of New Ulm and Mark Severson and special friend Rachel Mude of Sleepy Eye; a niece, Samantha, and nephews, Jonathan, Christopher and Andrew Stimpert; grandmothers, Agnes Leonard of Nicollet and Marion Severson of Mankato. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Paul L. Severson and Kenneth Leonard. Kim was born on June 30, 1985 in Sleepy Eye the daughter of Paul and Susan (Leonard) Severson. She lived in Sleepy Eye her entire life, attending St. Mary's Schools since kindergarten. Kim worked part time at Subway and Riverside Animal Clinic in Sleepy Eye. She loved animals and enjoyed her many pets. Kim liked to spend time with her niece and nephews, as well as her friends, family and special friend, Ricky. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.
