Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Vernon Center, with burial in the city cemetery. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church Monday. He is survived by his sister Emma Mack of Amboy; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Eldora; one half-sister and a half-brother. He was born June 21, 1909, in Ceresco Township, Blue Earth County, to Thomas and Emma (Gerberding) Bowles. He grew up in Ceresco Township, where he attended rural District 14 schools. He married Eldora Pietsch on Aug. 15, 1930, at Lewisville. They lived and farmed the family farm until retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Vernon Center, where he served on church boards. Loretta Kiecker, 89, of Fairfax, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Fairfax Community Home. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Fairfax, with burial in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cairo Township. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-11 a.m. Saturday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, and one hour prior to services at the church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Laura of Fairfax; daughter-in-law, Doris of Sleepy Eye; eight grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hildegarde Kiecker, of Hopkins and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; and a son, Reuben. She was born March 5, 1911, in New Ulm, to Andrew and Elizabeth (Holm) Prokosch. She married Walter Kiecker on Jan. 2, 1930, in Fairfax. She worked at A.J. Pietrus & Sons in Sleepy Eye for 16 years. She and her husband later moved to Fairfax. She lived at Fairview Apartments and the Fairfax Community Home after her husband died. Ambrose 'Bruce' Bastian, 69, of rural Gibbon died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the New Ulm Medical Center. Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. Gertrude Clobes, 83, of 1014 Sixth North in New Ulm died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Gail Wallin, 50, of Arlington, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Arlington. Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop. Visitation is one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Julius Weber, 90, of Springfield, formerly of Wanda, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Home, Springfield. Mass of Christian burial is 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield. A Knights of Columbus and parish prayer service is 8 p.m. at the funeral home today. A men's rosary is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathryn and Alfred Liebl of New Ulm, Doris of Springfield, Audrey and Michael Wagner of Sleepy Eye, Arlene and Edward Nelson of Clements and Judy and David Lipetzky of Springfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Colleen of New Ulm, Ralph and Judi and Larry and Marg, all of Sanborn, and Daniel of Wanda; 40 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers in law, Agnes Weber of Springfield, Ida Eichten of Wanda, Leona and Jerry Jenniges of Mendota Heights, Clarence and Magdalyn Steffensmeier of Morgan, and Gladys Steffensmeier and Rita Steffensmeier, both of Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard in 1938; three grandchildren; brothers, Frank, Edward, Otto, John, Vincent; twin brothers in infancy and a sister, Martha. He was born June 20, 1910, in Wesley, Iowa, to Frank and Katherine (Fessler) Weber. He married Beatrice Steffensmeier on Nov. 13, 1934, in Morgan. They farmed in Burnstown Township near Springfield and Willow Lake Township. He helped organize the Wanda Co-op Creamery that merged with the New Ulm Creamery and later became part of Associated Milk Producers Inc. He served on the creamery board of directors. He was director of the Wanda Farmers Elevator for several years. He was a former member of St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda. He joined St. Raphael's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, Springfield, in 1991.
