Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson. A complete obituary will appear in a later edition of The Journal. Florence L. Bethke, 84 of Fairfax died Wednesday, January 6, 1999 at the Fairfax Community Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax with burial in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Cairo Township, Renville County. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax and one hour prior to the service at the church. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law Marlene Lemcke of Marysville, Calif., Kerry and Jeff Haala of Fairfax; sons and daughters-in-law Gene and Rosie Bethke of Weslaco, Texas, Don and Ellen Bethke of Bloomington, Jim and Dotty Bethke of Coon Rapids; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Wilbur and Bonnie Hage of Baltic, S.D.; sister Delores Bethke of Sioux Fall, S.D.; son-in-law Galen Hempel of Echo; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Erich in 1971; daughter Judy Hempel; two grandchildren; brothers Maurice and Holly Hage; son-in-law Gene Lemcke; daughter-in-law Carol Bethke. She was born Sept. 12, 1914 in Bandon Township, Renville County to Peter and Emma (Possin) Hage. She grew up near Gibbon and Fairfax. She married Erich Bethke in Sioux Falls, S.D. Oct. 19, 1931. They resided in Fairfax where she worked as a cook at the Fairfax Community Home for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax where she served on the Ladies' Aid. She was also treasurer of the Home Extension group. Helen Majeres, 72 of Tracy died Thursday, January 7, 1999 at the Tracy Area Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy with burial in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday with a parish rosary 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday 9 a.m. until the service at the church. She is survived by sons Dwight of Franksville, Wis., Charles of Tracy, Anthony of Hutchinson, James of Hanola, Kuai, Hawaii; daughter Diane Gertner of Rochester; brothers James Bystrek of Milwaukee, Wis., Charles Bustrek of Omaha, Neb.; sisters and brothers-in-law Lillian and Louis Mohning of Remsen, Iowa, Mary and Gene Scollard of North Canton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter. She was born June 1, 1926 to Walter and Blanche (Cass) Bystrek. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen, Iowa in 1944. She attended Westmar College in LaMars, Iowa, graduating with a teaching certificate. She taught school in rural Iowa. She married Cecil Majeres at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, where they farmed for 10 years before moving to Tracy. She worked as a Title I teacher's aide at Tracy Elementary School for 17 years. She was a member of CDA, Golden Age Club, CCW, and Southwest Senior Federation. Elmer C. Eichstadt, 91 of rural Sanborn died Friday, January 8, 1999 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Funeral arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
