   John F. Korkemeier , 66, 1016 Ely Ave., Gibbon died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 at his home.
   Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Birch Cooley Township, Renville County.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. There will be a rosary by the St. Willibrord's Catholic Aid Society at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
   He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael J. and Sandy Korkemeier of rural Winthrop, Anthony B. Korkemeier of rural Gibbon, Francis G. and Deborah Korkemeier of rural Fairfax; and nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Ann Korkemeier in infancy; and sister-in-law, Gloria Jean Korkemeier.
   He was born on Nov. 27, 1933, in Bandon Township, Renville County, to Bernard John and Barbara Mary (Goelz) Korkemeier. He served in the U.S. Army. He farmed in various townships in Sibley County until 1968. He then worked for Drainage Incorporated in Winthrop as a machine operator. He worked for Northern Insulation in Gibbon and retired in 1990. He was a member of St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon and Catholic Aid Society.

   Leona Zins, 88, of Nicollet died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
   Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today and continues 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
   She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Julianne and John Allerson and Susan and Steve Howell all of Naperville, Ill.; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Donna Zins of Nicollet, Tom and Mary Zins and Phillip and Mary Zins all of Golden Valley; sons, David Zins of St. Louis Park, Tim Zins of Nicollet; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Veronica Forstner of New Ulm; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Loretta Boettger of New Ulm; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Ernie Hammer of Owatonna; and sisters-in-law, Gertrude Zins of Nicollet and Aurelia Boettger of New Ulm.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward S. Zins in 1967; five brothers; and three sisters.
   She was born Aug. 22, 1911, in Sigel Township, Brown County, o Henry and Caroline (Tauer) Boettger. On June 2, 1936, she married Edward S. Zins at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They lived in Nicollet. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Nicollet, Council of Catholic Women and the Tuesday morning prayer group. She had been a resident of the Grandview Nursing Home in St. Peter for the past two and one half years.
    In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor's choice.

   Donald Schmidt, 80, of Springfield, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Springfield Medical Center.
   Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by John Watson American Legion Post 267 of Springfield at the cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. until time of the service Thursday at the church.
   Arrangements were handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.
   He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, Charles "Chuck" and wife Marsha, David, Clyde and wife Donna, Donald, all of Springfield; daughters, Carol and husband Louie Agre of Spring, Texas, Barbara and husband Jim Ottaway of Meadow Vista, Calif., and Diane and husband Steve Van Hee of Apple Valley; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Betty and husband Don Friedrich of Springfield and Dorothy and husband Clarence Fixsen of Seaforth.
   He was preceded in death by his parents.
   He was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Springfield, to Charles and Elizabeth (Luckhardt) Schmidt. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1938. He married Evelyn Schultz on April 2, 1942 in Springfield. He entered the U.S. Army in June 1942, serving during World War II in the European Theatre and playing in the military band. He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. Following his discharge from the service, he worked as a contractor-builder, building many homes in the Springfield area and the current Zion Lutheran Church facility. He was a member of the church men's club and was chairman of the church council. He belonged to the Springfield American Legion. He played tuba and drums with the Orpheus and Sauerkraut bands until they disbanded.

   Lillian Schneider , 94, of Sleepy Eye and formerly of International Falls, died Jan. 8, 2000, at Sleepy Eye.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery.
   Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
   Arrangements are handled by Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.
   She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Zula Schneider of Roswell, N.M.; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Robert Novotny of Sleepy Eye, Carole and John Irsik of Beaumont, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Carl Sagen of Sacramento, Calif.
   She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Raymond in March 1996; brother, Edward; sister, Pearl; and grandson, Carl Novotny.
   She was born March 18, 1905, in Edmore, N.D., to Martin and Dora (Rye) Sagen. She graduated from Edmore High School. She attended normal training in Valley City, N.D., and then taught country school in Edmore. She moved with her family to International Falls where she worked at Craig Hospital and earned a LPN degree. She also received a RN degree. She married Raymond C. Schneider on July 4, 1926, in St. Paul. They lived in International Falls. She worked at Falls Memorial Hospital and as an industrial nurse at Boise Cascade Paper Mill. They moved to Sleepy Eye in 1991. She was a past Nobel Grand of Rebecca Lodge, member of the Civic League and Library Board. She played piano for silent movies. She taught first aid and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the Falls Nurses Association, the city charter commission and the high school planning commission. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid.

   Ella Lange , 87, of Winthrop, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
   Arrangements are pending with Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop.

   Edith Griebel, 88, of 17332 120th Ave., New Ulm, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
   Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
