Doris E. Burt, age 83, of Mankato, and formerly of St. Clair, died Thursday, January 16, 2003 at Mankato House Health Care Center. Funeral services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato, Rev. Mary Iverson, officiating. Burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before services at church on Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or St. Clair American Legion. Doris was born February 11, 1919 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Otto and Mary (Stay) Kittleson. During her youth, they moved to Mankato, where she attended Mankato Schools. She married Charles E. Burt in Mankato on September 20, 1936. Doris worked for Mankato Poultry and Farm Supply for many years. She attended Bethlehcm Lutheran Church and was a member of St. Clair American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo. Survivors include eight children, Beverly Hinkel of Tucson, Arizona, Charles Burt Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Eagle Lake, Daniel Burt and his wife, Darlean of Mankato, Charlene Grinnen and her husband, Richard of Owatonna, Sandra Lynch and her husband, Robert of Eagan, Steven Burt and his wife, Diana of New Ulm, Bruce Burt and his wife, Kathy of rural St Peter, Thomas Burt and his wife, Sandra of St. Paul; 20 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, two infant sons, two brothers, two sisters, and a great-great granddaughter. Stephen Anderson, 48, of rural Hanska died Thursday, January 16, 2003 at his home. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Jon Anderson officiating. Interment will be 9:00 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hanska. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements. Stephen Richard Anderson, the son of Ardmoure and Ramona (Olson) Anderson, was born September 9, 1954 in Key West, FL. The family lived in Connecticut and New Jersey while his father served in the military. They moved to Hanska in 1968. Steve graduated from New Ulm High School in 1972. He attended Mankato State College where he studied Law Enforcement. He married Pam Forster February 2, 1980 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Steve worked as chief of police in Comfrey and then was a deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Department. He was living on the home farm at the time of his death. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Survivors include children, Kate Anderson of Moorhead, Paul Anderson of New Ulm, Kelly Anderson of Moorhead; sisters, Sharon Finstad and her husband Howard of Hanska, Linda Larson and her husband David of Hanska; brother Gary Anderson and his wife Rosanne of Belle Plaine; nieces, and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Leo Frederickson. Leon "Red" Schwecke, 63, of Winthrop, died on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, Jan. 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop, with burial with full military rites by the Winthrop Honor Guard, in the Winthrop Cemetery. Visitation will be on 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop, and one hour prior to services at the church. The rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both on Sunday at the funeral chapel. He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in New Ulm, to John and Margaret (Mattes) Schwecke. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1957-1963. He is survived by his wife, Jan of Winthrop; daughters Julie Dummer of Lafayette, Michelle Maltby of Ham Lake, Angela Pollard of Ham Lake and Susan Schwecke of Champlin; seven grandchildren, brothers, Gary of Kansas, John of Champlin and James of Mauldin, S.C.; and sisters, Joan Jandl of Eden Prairie and Carol Trebelhorn of Marine on St. Croix. Judy A. Thorsen, 56, of Rochester, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Services will be 10:30 am. Monday at Hilltop United Methodist Church in Mankato. Burial will be in Tivoli Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Survivors include her husband, Dennis Thorsen of Rochester; four daughters, Amy Voorhees of Rosemount, Bobbi Jo Drum of Seattle, Wash., Kari Thorsen of Madison, Wis., and Kate Thorsen of Minneapolis; twin grandchildren; her mother, Esther Lang of Roseau; and a brother, Harold "Bud" Lang of Roseau. Judy was born April 19, 1946 in Mankato to Harold and Esther (Karstens) Lang. She taught special education classes in New Ulm, where she lived from 1971 to 1981.
