Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Faith-Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey and one hour prior to the service at the church. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Norma Thor of Napels, Fla., Gerald and Carol Thor of rural Comfrey; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Archie and Lina Johnson of Gulfport, Fla.; sister, Florence Johnson of Springfield; five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Archie in 1972; brothers, Alvin and Vivien Johnson; sisters Ethel Walz, Edith Baier, and Blanche in childhood. She was born Oct. 22, 1902 in Bashaw Township, Brown County to Charles and Laura (Anderson) Johnson. She attended country school and Comfrey High School. After attending beauty school in Minneapolis, she worked as a beautician in the Twin Cities and in Winnepeg, Manitoba. She married Archie Thor in Comfrey on June 27, 1928. They farmed in rural Comfrey. She moved to St. John Lutheran Home in 1995. She was member of Faith Lutheran Church, WELCA, Ruth Circle and Comfrey Senior Citizens. Gilbert Windschitl, 66 of Sleepy Eye died Monday, Jan.18, 1999 at his home near Leavenworth. Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. A complete obituary will appear in a later edition. Mathilda 'Tillie' Krumwiede, 83 of Trimont died Sunday, January 17, 1999 at the Fairmont Community Hospital. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont with burial in Elm Creek Cemetery, rural Trimont. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour before the service at the church. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Elvera and James Darmer of Andover, Norma and Keith Gates of Trimont; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Alena Krumwiede of Trimont, Anna Mae and Norman Dorow of Truman; brothers-in-law, Richard Krumwiede of Windom, Lyle and Inez Krumwiede, Arlo Krumwiede all of Swea City, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Krumwiede of Trimont, Carol Willemssen of Springfield; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by husband Chris in 1996; grandson, Arlynn Malchow; great-granddaughter, Kelly Jo; brother Harold Willemssen. She was born Oct. 21, 1915, in Little Rock, Iowa to Chris and Jessie (Kruger) Willemssen. She moved with her family to the Springfield-Sanborn area and attended school. She married Christian Krumwiede on Sept. 12, 1937, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Monterey, and they lived on a farm in the Coates-Rosemount area, later moving to a farm in Kimball Township, rural Alpha. They moved to Triumph in 1947. From 1952 to 1957, they owned and operated the Triumph Cafe. She was later employed at Tony Downs in St. James, the Trimont Community Hospital, and later the Trimont Nursing Home from which she retired. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont and the Elm Creek Cemetery Association. Marvin Madsen, 85, formerly of rural Morton, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Redwood Falls Hospital. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton with burial in the city cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and continues from 9:30 a.m. until services Friday at the church. He is survived by children and their spouses, Mavis and Sid Agre of Renville, Myra Madsen of Brooklyn Park, Steve and Vicki Madsen of Morton, James Madsen of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Linus and Vangie Madsen of Morgan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera and Robert Boesch of New Ulm, Verna and Richard Rein of Winthrop. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia, on Jan. 5, 1988; granddaughter, Renae Madsen; and sister, Bernice Nelson. He was born Nov. 14, 1913, in Brookville Township, Redwood County. He attended country schools. He married Lydia Mielke on Sept. 27, 1941, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Morgan. They farmed in Beaver Falls Township. He retired in 1994. He moved to Redwood Falls in December 1997. He entered Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in December 1998. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morton, where he served as treasurer and as an usher. Bernice L. Olson, 76, of rural Winthrop died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at Franklin Health Care Center. Family service will be at noon Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in Clear Lake Lutheran Cemetery in Cornish Township, Sibley County. Visitation is 10 a.m. until noon on Thursday at the funeral home. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Diane Olson and Michael Olson, all of rural Winthrop; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth and Lloyd Solmonson of Litchfield, Dorothy Hoffman of Minneapolis; brothers and sister-in-law , Arnold Muetzel of Litchfield, and Martin and Delores Muetzel of Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burton M. Olson on Dec. 25, 1998. She was born on July 30, 1922 in Sheridan Township, Redwood County to Edwin R. and Minnie E. (Kreft) Muetzel. She married Burton M. Olson on July 11, 1942 at Clear Lake Lutheran Church in Cornish Township. They farmed in Cornish Township, and they retired in 1980. Sylvia C. Holm, 86, formerly of Essig died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Funeral service for Sylvia Holm is 10:15 a.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation is one hour before the service Wednesday at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joleen and Eugene Huiras of rural Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Sandra Sellner and her husband, Larry of Sleepy Eye, Marlin Huiras and his wife, Paula of Essig, and Sheryl Carroll and her husband, David of New Ulm; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; sister, Irma Grau of New Ulm; brothers, Otto Frank, Herbert (Mike) Frank, and Marvin (Buddy) Frank all of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Holm in 1976; brothers, Fred Frank and Larry Frank; and sisters, Freida Johns, and Lillian Frank. She was born Aug. 17, 1912, in Milford Township, Brown County to Alois and Mathilda (Fiemeyer) Frank. She attended school in Milford Township. She married Louis Holm on May 19, 1941 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. They farmed at rural Essig until 1971. She moved to Sleepy Eye Care Center in 1994. She is a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, St. Anne's Court, and National Catholic Society of Forseters. Frank Pagel, 84, of Winthrop died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Care Center in Winthrop. Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Orville Buss, 90, formerly of New Ulm died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Care Center. Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
