Services for Jake Steven Whitaker, infant son of Steve and Sherry Whitaker, were held Tuesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Evan, with burial in Babyland Cemetery, Redwood Falls. Nelson Funeral Home of Redwood Falls handled arrangements. He is survived by parents, Steven and Sherry Whitaker of Redwood Falls; grandparents, Carlyle and La Vonne Roberts, Ella Junker, and Otto and Rose Bucholz; and great-great-grandparent, Arietta Roberts. Frank Pagel, 84, of Winthrop died Monday Jan. 18, 1999, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Care Center in Winthrop. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop and will continue one before the service Saturday at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Duane Haines of Winthrop, Betty and Zane Martin of Orangevale, Calif., Kathleen Pagel of Lewisville, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Barb Pagel of Winthrop, Steve and Mary Pagel of Montgomery, Darwin and Marcia Pagel of Winthrop, Thomas and Nancy Pagel of Coon Rapids; 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah Lucas of Redwood Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella Pagel on June 29, 1990; daughters, Joan Pagel, Donna Mae Duenow, Bonnie Lou Ziegler; sisters, Elizabeth Buntrock, Anna Becke; brothers, August Pagel, Carl Pagel, Henry Pagel; and a grandson, David Ziegler. He was born on June 2, 1914, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County to William and Ida (Stresemann) Pagel. He married Luella Podratz on Nov. 28, 1934 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. They farmed in Bismarck Township until 1959 when they moved into Winthrop. He operated a corn shelling business. He then worked for Tri-County Dairy in Winthrop until 1969 when they moved to Mounds View. He worked for ARCO Metals in Minneapolis as a fork lift operator until retiring in 1975. They moved back to Winthrop, and he worked part-time jobs at Hands and Winthrop News Office. He was a driver for Meals On Wheels and a volunteer driver for Sibley County. He also helped in the spring and fall as a field worker for local farmers. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Dorothy Plasschaert, 77, of Waseca died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999 at her home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a 7 p.m. prayer service tonight. She is survived by a son Richard and wife Mary Plasschaert of Waseca; grandchildren, Richard Plasschaert of Lakeville, Michael Plasschaert of Waseca, Christine Billiar of St. Clair, and Jennifer Plasschaert of Waseca; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Vera Eisebacker of New Ulm and Ruth and husband Earl Baker of North Mankato, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1978 and two sisters. She was born Jan, 3, 1922 in New Ulm to Theo and Wilhelmina (Mueller) Simmet. She attended school in New Ulm. She married Maurice H. Plasschaert in September 1940 at St- Mary's Church in New Ulm. After marriage, they lived at various locations due to her husband's military career, before moving to Waseca in 1976. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.
