   Martha Weide, 87, of Crosby, formerly of the Darfur area, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, Crobsy.
   Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.

   Ruth Blauert, 86, of 214 N. Washington in New Ulm died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999 at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.
   Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
    Visitation is 4-8 p.m.today and continues 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and one hour before service Tuesday at the church.
   She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Richard Hayes of Bloomington, Rickie and Eugene Wenthold of Apple Valley, and son-in-law, William Lonergan of Edina; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida Stelljes, and Myra and Ray Lippert, all of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Roy Jenson of Denver, Colo.; sister-in-law, Eleanar Witt of St. Paul; also by many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in May 19, 1980; daughter, JoAnn Lonergan; three brothers and four sisters.
   She was born March 25, 1912, in New Ulm to Emil and Ida (Ratzke) Witt. She attended St. Paul's Lutheran School. She graduated from New Ulm Public School in 1930. She married William Blauert on May 20, 1934 in Renville. They lived in New Ulm. She worked for 3M and the Wearwell Garment Company, retiring in 1977. She recently moved to the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
   She was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in New Ulm and the St. Paul's Ladies Aid, and also the church choir.

   Clarence A. Besemer, 80, of Winthrop, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at his home.
   Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop and continues one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
   He is survived by his wife, Anna of Winthrop; his children; Rosanne Johnson and husband Kevin, Winthrop; Delores Anne Weikle and husband, Peter of Duluth; Lyle Besemer and his wife, Corie of Blaine; grandchildren, Brent, Beth and Addie Johnson; William Weikle, Calliegh and Jillian Besemer; sister, Bertha Schultz and her husband, Jay of Gaylord, sisters-in-law: Hertha Rettmann, Winthrop, Helen Rettmann, Winthrop, Olga Gehrke and her husband, Alvin of Winthrop, and Gladys Rettmann of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Martin Rettmann and his wife, Agnes of Hutchinson; many nieces, nephews and friends.
   He was preceded in death by his brother, sister, and Edna Werner.
   He was born on March 4, 1918, in Sigel Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Arthur and Minnie (Kuehn) Besemer. He attended Clear Lake School. On Oct. 9, 1951, he married Anna Rettmann at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. He began farming in Sigel Township and later farmed in Transit Township, Sibley County, until retiring in 1981. After retirement, they lived in Winthrop. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served on church and cemetery boards. He delivered Meals-on-Wheels and was a member of the Senior Citizen Federation.

   Gerald 'Gerry' Brand, 55, of 617 N. Jefferson in New Ulm died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999 at his home.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
    Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a rosary by St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
   He is survived by his wife, Diane Brand of New Ulm; daughter, Annette Brand, a student at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D.; son, Andrew Brand at home; sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Eugene Schmitz, Marlys Drill, Joleen and Warren Jorgensen all of New Ulm, LaDonna Kissner, Doris and Wesley Guemmer all of St. Cloud, Carol and Jim Kruggel of Winthrop, Diane and Cole Carley of Fargo, N.D.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Lucille Brand, Donald and Myrtle Brand all of New Ulm, Marvin Brand of Franklin, Curtis and Judy Brand, David Brand all of New Ulm, Kenneth Brand of Glenview, Ill.; sister in law, Sharon Isenberg of New Ulm; brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Mary Isenberg of New Ulm.
   He was preceded in death by brother, Lowell Brand in 1983.
   He was born on Sept. 2, 1943, in New Ulm to Joseph and Sophia (Kuehn) Brand. He married Diane Isenberg on Aug. 9, 1969, at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm. He worked as a machine operator in the cable department at 3M in New Ulm for 31 years. He was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Aid Council, and was a member of the American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm.

   Clara A. Schrimpf, 93, of Lafayette, formerly of the Sleepy Eye area died Jan. 23, 1999 in New Ulm.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church , Sleepy Eye, with burial in St. John's Cemetery, Searles.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
   She is survived by her brother, Henry Schrimpf of New Ulm, nieces and nephews, Lucille Ulman of Eveleth, Joan Busch of Taylors Falls, Arlene Brunner of New Ulm, Juline Moldan of St. Cloud, John Rewitzer, Jr. of Courtland, and David Schrimpf of New Ulm; great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Anna Ubl, John, Anton Jr., Minnie Rewitzer and Mary Domeier.
   She was born July 9, 1905, in Albin Township, Brown County to Catherine (Schmidt) Schrimpf. She lived in the Sleepy Eye area until 1989 when she moved to the Good Samaritan in Lafayette. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.

   Mabel C. Heuer, 89, of Arlington died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
   Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Arlington with burial in the church cemetery. Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington is handling the arrangements.
   Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
   She is survived by her cousins, their spouses and children.
   She was born June 6, 1909 at Arlington to William and Louise (Spannaus) Heuer. She attended the Minneapolis Business college and held the position of Clerk of Probate Court and Deputy Clerk of Sibley County for 45 years. She was also employed as a secretary in several law offices. She retired in 1974 and moved from Gaylord to Arlington. She belonged to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She became a resident of Arlington Good Samaritan Center in March1995.

   Martha Hedin, 93, of Winthrop died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.
