Services are 1:30 p.m.Thursday at First United Church of Christ at Comfrey with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-11 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and continues one hour before services Thursday at the church. She is survived by son, Paul and wife Monica of St. Cloud; daughter, Debbie and husband Cary Klingner of Crosby; grandchildren, Lucas Weide, Ross and Ellen Klingner; sisters, Gertrude Biesecker of Willmar, Hulda Sutherland of St. James, Ida and husband John West of Aberdeen, S.D.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by husband, Henry; six brothers; and five sisters. She was born Dec. 1, 1911, to Abraham and Anna (Epp) Goossen in Mountain Lake. She was raised in Mountain Lake where she attended school. She worked in the family home taking care of her father, brothers and sisters and later did housekeeping for Frank Curley and Herbert Stark. On Sept. 6, 1934, she married Henry John Weide at Mountain Lake.They farmed in the Comfrey/Darfur area until retiring to Darfur in 1973. They moved to St. James in 1987 and Brainerd in 1991. Henry died in March, 1993. She made her home with her children until entering the Care Center of Central Lakes Medical Center in Crosby in 1995. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ (Congregational) in Comfrey, was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Comfrey Chapter; and the Women's Fellowship. She was a former 4-H adult leader and garden club member. Martha Hedine, 93, of Winthrop died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999 at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and continues one hour before services Thursday at the church. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Frances and Ronald Albright of New Ulm, Flora and Leo Klement of Faribault; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Elsa Podratz of rural Gibbon, Eleanor Lietz of Brownton; sister-in-law, Gertrude Sievert of Gibbon; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Philip Jaus on Aug. 24, 1953, C.J. Hedine on Dec. 27, 1979; foster son, Forrest Jaus; granddaughter, Laurie Klement; sisters, Selma Sievert, Anna Gatzke, Edna Buegel; and brothers, Marvin Sievert and Paul Sievert. She was born on Aug. 2, 1905 in Moltke Township, Sibley County to Carl and Martha (Bentz) Sievert. She graduated from D.M.L.C. in New Ulm in 1927 and from Mankato State College in 1962 with a master's degree in elementary education. She married Philip Jaus on June 21, 1930 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. They lived in Winthrop. She taught in rural schools in Sibley County. In 1948 she joined the Winthrop Public School staff and taught kindergarten until retiring in 1970. She married C.J. Hedine on February 21, 1957 in Gibbon. In 1980 she moved to Faribault and lived there until 1987 when she moved back to Winthrop. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Winthrop and a past member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Faribault.
