Gehlen, 85 of Glencoe died Wednesday, January 27, 1999 at the Glencoe Area Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe with burial in the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery. He is survived by wife Noreen of Glencoe; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Roberta Gehlen of Hutchinson, Richard and Shirley Gehlen of Cokato, Robert and Arlys Gehlen of Glencoe, Charles and Gloria Gehlen of Duluth; daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Russell Manel of Whitehall, Wisc., Dorothy Sabo of Littleton, Colo., Barbara Gehlen of Minneapolis; step-son and spouse Karl and Irene Jindra of High Rolls, N.M., step-daughters and spouse LeAnn Shea of Mankato, Jinean and Craig Schofield of Bloomington; sisters and brothers-in-law Irene and Homer Hoelz of Belle Plaine, Doris Harpel of Montgomery, Claire Streck of Seattle, Wash., Joanne and Jerry Boyle of New Ulm; 24 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. He was born Jan. 13, 1914 in Glencoe to Joseph and Katherine (Willems) Gehlen. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1933. He married Pauline Fox MAy 11, 1939 at the Church of St. Boniface in Hastings. Pauline died in 1970. He married Noreen Bendzick Oct. 26, 1972 at the Holt Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. He managed the locker division of Glencoe Butter and Produce for 30 years before retiring. He worked for Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel during his retirement. He served on the Glencoe Fire Department for over 20 years; the Glencoe Park Board; volunteered at the Glencoe Area Health Center. He was a member of the Glencoe Lions Club and was a recipient of that organizations Melvin Jones and Helen Keller awards. He was a member of the Church of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe and the St. Christopher Council Knights of Columbus. Erma Yock, 92 of St. James died Thursday, January 28, 1999 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in St. James. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in St. James with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday and 8-9 a.m. Monday at the Pease Funeral Home in St. James and one hour prior to the service at the church. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law William and Joanne Yock of rural St. James, Robert and Carla Yock of Annandale, Va.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Vernon and Helen Fritz of Mesa, Az.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbandWIlliam in 1984; brothers Marvin, Walter, and Irvin; sisters Twyla, Eleanor, Margaret, and Florence. She was born May 11, 1906 in Clara City to Michael and Pauline (Peters) Fritz. She was a graduate of Clara City High School and Macalester College in St. Paul. She taught high school biology and chemistry in Brownton before marrying William Yock, Sr. June 11, 1932 in Clara City. They moved to St. James where she served as a dental assistant in her husband's dental office. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. James where she sang in the choir and served as Sunday school superintendent. Following her husband's retirement they moved to Spicer. She had been a resident of the Pleasant View Nursing Home since 1996. Carl Lindmeyer, 85 of Fargo, N.D. died Sunday, January 24, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fargo. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements are through Bougler Funeral Home in Fargo. He is survived by daughters and son-in-law Paula and Darrell Westrum of Fargo, N.D., Pam Lindmeyer of Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren Sarah and Maggie Westrum. He was preceded in death by wife Mabel in 1986. He was born Oct. 30, 1013 in New Ulm where he grew up and graduated high school. He married Mabel H. Guth Feb. 10, 1942 in Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, 1942-45. After the war the couple moved to Mankato, where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1971. He moved to Fargo, N.D. in 1991. Wilbert Messerschmidt, 89, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, At Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye and one hour prior to the service at the church. He is survived by wife Ruth of Sleepy Eye; daughters and son-in-law Sondra and Bill Bertz of Springfield, Nona Messerschmidt of Castro Valley, Calif.; son Jan Messerschmidt of Pleasanton, Calif.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Irene Petersen of Rochelle, Ill., Verna Messerschmidt of Minneapolis, cousins. He was preceded in death by sister Viola Morgan. He was born May 4, 1909 in Cobden to William and Pauline (Stage) Messerschmidt. He graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1928. He married Ruth Schuman May 29, 1937 in Sleepy Eye where they made their home and where he owned and operated his own road maintenance business. He also worked for Brown County road maintenance until retiring in 1975. He was a charter member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and was a charter member of the Sleepy Eye Drum and Bugle Corps.
