   Elaine Blaalid, 63, of rural Gibbon died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at her home.
   Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 2, at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Wayne Laitinen officiating. Burial will be in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County.
   Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
   Elaine is survived by her husband, DeWayne, of rural Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Fred Wiethoff of rural Fairfax, Sue Blaalid of Fremont, Wisconsin, Sheri and Tim Krogen of rural Marshall, Dianna and Charlie Wiethoff of rural Gibbon; sons, David Blaalid of rural Gibbon and Daniel Blaalid of New Ulm; grandchildren, Ashley and Cassaundra Krogen; her mother-in-law, Esther Blaalid of New Ulm; a brother-in-law, Glen Blaalid of New Ulm; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Jerry Buerkle of Spring Valley, Wisconsin, and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Alvina Dourleyn; a sister-in-law, Bernell Blaalid, and by her father-in-law, Palmer Blaalid.
   Elaine Rose Blaalid, the daughter of William "Bill" and Alvina (Steffen) Dourleyn, was born on February 15, 1940 in New Ulm. She graduated from New Ulm Public High School in the class of 1958. On June 22, 1960 she was united in marriage to DeWayne Blaalid at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ridgely Township, Nicollet County. After marriage they farmed her families farm in West Newton Township. This is the same farm that she lived her entire life on. She worked hard along side her husband on the family dairy farm and enjoyed milking cows for many years. Elaine enjoyed gardening, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

   Norman Brust, 93, of New Ulm, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with burial to follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
   Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements. A complete obituary will appear in a later edition of the Journal.

   Norris Knutson, 92, of Walnut Creek, Calif., died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2003 at the Rossmore Care Center in Walnut Creek.
   Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with burial to follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling arrangements. A full obituary will appear in a later edition.
