   Arthur Olson, 69, of 7 S. Payne St. in New Ulm, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at his home.
   A memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at United Church of Christ in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organization.
   A complete obituary will appear in a later edition of The Journal.

   Esther Kirschstein, 94, of Buffalo Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Renvile County Hospital in Olivia.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake with burial in the Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Grafton Township.
   Visitation starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
   Arrangements are handled by Hughes Funeral Home.
   She is survived by sisters, Sadie Fischer and Florence Jakobitz of Buffalo Lake; stepdaughter, Doris Ann and husband James Sandmann of Morgan; stepdaughter-in-law, Lois and husband Wallace Kirschstein of Sanborn; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, William; stepson, Elmer Kirschstein; parents; and sisters, Ella Adeline Grace, Helen, and Emma; and brothers George, Henry, Leo, Ben, Fred, Bill, and Harry.
   She was born March 30, 1905, at Buffalo Lake to Gustave and Emelie (Koenig) Mueller. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She did "day work" services for many homes in the Minneapolis Winona, and Buffalo Lake areas. She was an assistant cook at the Buffalo Lake School. On Sept. 28, 1957, she married William Kirschstein in rural Buffalo Lake. The couple lived in Morgan until William's death in 1971. She moved to Buffalo Lake in September of 1998 when she became a resident of the Buffalo Lake Nursing Home.
   

   Phyllis Westphal, 54, of Belle Plaine, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at her home.
   Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Fenske-Hayes Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, and will continue one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
   She is survived by her husband, Clinton; son, Craig and wife Laura of New Prague; daughters, Sherry and husband Paul Guertin of Belle Plaine and Sheila of Madison Lake; three grandchildren; parents, Henry and Helena Bird of Henderson; brother, Carl and wife Sharon Bird of Shakopee; sisters, Lois and husband Dennis Schauer of Deerwood, Gloria and husband Roger Hilgers of Glencoe, Judy and husband Jim Madden of Glencoe, Carol and husband Ron Otto of Arlington, and Debbie and husband Dave Mathwig of Henderson.
   She was preceded in death by her brother Milan; and grandparents, George and Anna Fries and Ed and Augusta Bird.
   She was born Sept. 24, 1945, in St. Peter, to Henry and Helena (Fries) Bird. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1963. She worked for an insurance company. She married Clinton Westphal on Oct. 3, 1964 in Arlington Township. They lived in St. Paul for three years before moving to Belle Plaine. She was a housewife and worked at Belle Plaine Lutheran Home as a kitchen aide. She was a member of Home Extension and Trinity Ladies Aid.

   Minnie Huiras, 103, died Wednesday at the Sleepy Eye Care Center, Sleepy Eye.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-9:30 a.m.Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m., Monday both at the funeral home.
   She is survived by her sons, Everett and Isabel Huiras of Sleepy Eye, Edwin Jr. and Doris Huiras of Leavenworth; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren; sister, Pearl Ludewig of Sleepy Eye; brother-in-law and wife Sylvester and Gertrude Huiras of Columbia, Mo.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; grandsons, Leonard and Linus Huiras; granddaughter, Mary Huiras-Schmitz; brothers, George Mickelson, Jr., and Fred Mickelson.
   She was born July 29, 1896, to George and Mary (Wellman) Mickelson, in Lake Hanska Township, Brown County. She attended country school in Lake Hanska Township. At age nine, she moved with her family to a farm in the Leavenworth area where she completed her country school education. She married Edwin M. Huiras on July 10, 1917, at Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. They farmed in the Leavenworth area. She moved into the Sleepy Eye Care Center in 1991. She was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs and the Christian Mothers Society.

   Edmund Zamzow, 75, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
    Services are pending with the Nelson Funeral Home in Morgan.
