Arthur E. Olson, 69, of 7 S. Payne St., New Ulm, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at his home. Memorial service is 1:30 p.m. Sunday at United Church of Christ, New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations. A one-hour fellowship time will precede the service, with a luncheon following, both at the church. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements. She is survived by his wife, Ellen Kruschke-Olson of New Ulm; son, Daniel Olson of Eden Prairie; and brother, Donald Olson and his wife Patricia of Crescent City, Calif.; mother-in-law, Myra Kruschke of Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant children, Deborah Ellen Olson in 1956 and David Armie Olson in 1958. He was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Northwood, N.D., to Deorge and Inga (Ellertson) Olson. He attended country school in Niagara, N.D. His family moved to western North Dakota when he was in elementary school. He served in the United Stated Army from 1950-1953, spending two years in Germany. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 28th Infantry Division Motor Pool. He married Ellen-Jane Kruschke on Sept. 19, 1954, in Ortonville. They lived in Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota. In 1958, they moved to Benson, where he owned and operated a service station and later sold bulk milk tanks. In 1967, he joined the Five Star Dairyland Cooperative, which later became a part of Associated Milk Producers, Inc. In 1969, the family moved to Granite Falls, where he was employed as the regional field representative and later assistant divisional manager in the Clarkfield Division of AMPI. In 1981 they moved to New Ulm where he helped build AMPI, the largest dairy cooperative in the Upper Midwest. He retired in 1995 as the Director of Procurement after 28 years with AMPI. He served as president of the Dairy Advisory Board for the Insurance Center in Onalaska , Wis., since its inception more than five years ago. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm, where he served as president of the church council. He was also a member of the Association and Conference Councils of the United Church of Christ. He belonged to the American Legion Post 132 in New Ulm. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association, or the Brown County Humane Society. Iona Gruenhagen, 79, of Gibbon, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Renville County Hospital in Olivia. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Moltke Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Kim Meindl of Detroit Lakes, Deanna and Michael Pomplun of Gaylord: sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Judy Gruenhagen of New Ulm, Gary Gruenhagen, Steve and Kathi Gruenhagen all of Gibbon; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Harris and Betty Buboltz and Veirl Buboltz all of Hector, and Harlan Buboltz of Bird Island. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry on May 30, 1992; a sister in infancy; and brothers, Eldon and Orris Buboltz. She was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, to Helmet and Ella (Berger) Buboltz. She attended country school and Emanuel Lutheran School in Wellington Township. She married Henry Gruenhagen on July 8, 1941 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, rural Fairfax. They farmed in Moltke Township, Sibley County, until 1979 when they moved into Gibbon. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Moltke Township, Sibley County. Adela Klucas, 93, formerly of Springfield, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in Fort Collins, Colo. Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield. Richard G. Scharbach, 90, of Madelia, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Madelia Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending with Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia. Harley Johnson, 84, of Hector, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at Renville County Hospital, Olivia. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Hector, with burial in the Hector City Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hughes Funeral Home, Hector and continues one hour before services Saturday at the church.
