   Waldemar 'Wally' Engel, 86, of Nicollet died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999 at his home.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery, rural Nicollet.
   Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to time of service at the church on Thursday.
   He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Gwethalyn and Albert Jaeger of Baudette, Zerelda Smith of Wauchula, Fla., Yolanda and Orrin Doyen of Vernon Center, Arlawayne and Bruce Boerner of Mankato; son and daughter-in-law Wyman and Ann Engel of North Mankato; seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in- law Edna Bode of Alexandria, Selma and Ray Kratzke of North Mankato, Elfrieda Engel of Mankato; brother and sister-in-law Roland "Butch" and Elnor "Babe" Engel of Nicollet; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Kawell of Mankato, sister-in-law, Elaine Kirby and her husband Mert of St. Peter, and a brother-in-law, Fred Fogg of Brandon.
   He was preceded in death by his wife ,Leona on April 14, 1995; son, David Engel in infancy; sister, Olga Fogg; sister-in-law Helen Menk, and brothers-in-law Ervin Bode, Loren Menk, and Elmer Menk.
   He was born June 9, 1912, in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County to Herman and Christina (Bode) Engel. He married Leona Menk on Sept. 8, 1935, at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter. They lived in St. Peter for ten years before moving to a farm in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. They farmed until 1971 when they retired and moved to Nicollet. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and a past member of the church council.

   Irwin H. 'Shorty' Heiser, 88, of North Mankato died Jan. 27, 1999 in Mesa, Ariz. Services were Feb. 1 in Arizona.
   He is survived by wife, Edna; sons, Fred Miller and Doyle Miller of Minnesota; daughters, JoAnn Quitmeyer of New Hampshire, Betty Albright, Carol Gilbertson, Lila Reinhart, and Donna Saffert, all of Minnesota; sister, Ruth Schauer of North Dakota, Lillian Michealson, of California; brothers ,Hardy Heiser of Mesa, Emanuel Heiser of California, Milton Heiser of Montana, Albert Heiser of North Dakota; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
   He was born in Wishek, ND. He was a tire salesman. He retired in 1975. He was a Master Mason Charity Lodge 98, Orient Chapter 60, DeMolay 26, Royal Arch Mason 57, New Ulm Shrine Club and Zuhrah Temple member in Minneapolis, American Turner Club, Western Minnesota Baseball Association. He was also a member of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm.

   Lela F. Osborne, 89, of Madelia, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at Madelia Community Hospital.
   Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Madelia, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Madelia.
   Visitation is Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and will continue for one hour prior to the time of services at the church.
   She is survived by daughter, Sara Jane Osborne of Madelia; son, James R. and wife Leonnie of Chicago; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959; brothers Frank, Orlo, Leo "Pete" and Ray Cady; sisters, Maud Pearson, Iva Stemper, and Laura Cady who died in infancy.
   She was born Dec. 13, 1909 in St. James Township, Watonwan County, to John M. and Sarah E. (Fallon) Cady. She attended school in St. James and graduated from Madelia High School. On May 18, 1936 she married Arthur P. Osborne at Emmestsburg, Iowa. They lived in Madelia. She worked at the House of Print. She had been a resident of Luther Memorial Home in Madelia for the past year and a half.

   Willis A. Buss, 63, of Hutchinson Township, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at his home.
   Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with burial in the church cemetery.
   He is survived by wife, Jaunita; children, Kevin Buss and wife Lori of Hutchinson, Darcy Hoff and husband Donn of Darwin, Rachelle Buss of Rochester; six grandchildren; brother, Arvin Buss of Stewart; mother-in-law, Gladys Tews of Hutchinson; brother-in-law Keith Tews and wife Pam of Hutchinson; sister-in-law Esmerelda Miller and husband Jerry of Arizona; other family and friends.
   He was born March 19, 1935, in Bismarck Township to Arthur and Frieda (Brown) Buss. He graduated from Stewart High School. He served in the U.S. military. On Oct. 22, 1961 he married Jaunita Tews at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. They resided in Hutchinson until 1974, when they moved to Hutchinson Township. He worked in road construction, and at Hutchinson Manufacturing and 3M. He retired. June 1, 1996.

   Eugene M. Oswald, 40 of Madelia died Saturday Feb. 6, 1999 in Mazatlan, Mexico as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
   Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in Riverside Cemetery with full military honors.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m.Thursday at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and one hour prior to the service at the church.
   He is survived by his parents, Melvin and Donna Oswald of Madelia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Ingrid, Rodney and Shoshonna, all of Lake Crystal, Roger of Burnsville, Wayne and Marlyse of Lakeville, David of Richmond; sisters and brothers-in-law Rhonda and Norm Hoeper of Nelson, LuAnn and John Seal of Savage, Shirley Sowers and special friend Daryl Gersch of Burnsville, Lisa and Kelly Grove of St. James, Terri and Scott Nelson of Madelia; grandmother, Adeline Meckelson of Madelia; special friend, Carol Visher of Madelia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
   He was born Feb. 6, 1959, in Sandstone to Melvin T. and Donna (Stippel) Oswald. He attended school in Hanska before moving to Madelia and graduating high school there. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1978 to 1986, spending three years in England. He returned to Madelia and from 1990-1993 he owned and operated Mel's Diner. He was later employed at Chevy's Bar and Grill in Mankato.

   Jeffrey S. Kirchhoff, 41 of Kimball died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at Albany Area Hospital.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Luxemburg with burial in the parish cemetery.
   Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and one hour prior to the service at the Mary Hall parish center in Luxemburg.
   He is survived by his wife Kathy; children, Nicole and Kyle; mother Bernice of New Ulm; brother Greg of Dayton, Ohio; and sister Beth Gronholz of New Ulm.
   He was preceded in death by his father in 1973; son John in 1980.
   He was born July 26, 1957, in Gaylord to Marvin and Bernice (Plagge) Kirchhoff. He graduated from Gibbon High School in 1975. He married Kathleen A. Kremers on June 21, 1980 at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Luxemburg. He farmed in Gibbon for three years before moving to the St. Cloud area. He was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Wendelin's parish.

   Elmer Otto, 92 of Morgan died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999 at Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home in Morgan and one hour prior to the service at the church.
   He is survived by daughter, Judy Ann Profitt of Miami. Fla.; son, Norman Otto of Hollywood, Fla.; stepchildren and spouses, James and Deanne Johnston of Schaumburg, Ill., Marlin and Ron Bodary of Crossville, Tenn., Jeff Johnston of Romulus, Mich., Robert and Margaret Johnston of Seattle, Wash., Kathleen Fuller of Palmyra, N.Y.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; other relatives.
   He was preceded in death by sisters Meta and Elsie Menk.
   He was born Nov. 18, 1906 in Sherman Township. Redwood County to William and Emelia (Fenske) Otto. He attended District 73 country school in Morgan and graduated from New Ulm High School. He worked for Ford Motor Company's B-24 bomber plant division in Ypsilanti, Mich., for five years before going to work for Kroeger Grocery Company in Detroit. He retired in 1971 in Morgan. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and served on the church council.

   Donald Korsmo, 74, of Franklin, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Lutheran Church in Camp Township, Renville County, with burial in the Hauges Cemetery, Camp Township.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8 a.m. Saturday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax and continues one hour before services Saturday at the church.
