   Patricia Schewe, 62, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato.
   Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
   Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye, and one hour prior to services at the church.
   She is survived by her husband Curt; and nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandmother Emma Faltis.
   She was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Home Township, Brown County, to Arvid and Leona (Faltis) Moon. She grew up and attended school in Sleepy Eye, graduating from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1957. She worked at various restaurants in Minneapolis, New Ulm, and Sleepy Eye. She also worked at Tony Downs in St. James. She married Curt Schewe on Oct. 15, 1980, in Redwood Falls. She was a former member of the VFW Auxiliary.

   Agatha Bittner, 86, of Lamberton, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
   Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Lamberton, with burial in the Lamberton Cemetery.
   Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Lamberton, and at the church one hour prior to the service.
   Agatha is survived by her children: Joyce and husband Robert Graff of Lamberton, Bonnie and husband Fred Henkel of Lamberton, Joan and husband, Richard Coyle of New Ulm, Glen and wife Joyce Bittner of Lamberton; 15 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren, 3 stepgreat-great grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Storch of Redwood Falls; a brother, Reuben Dallmann and wife Eva of Verndale; a sister-in-law, Arlette and husband Percy MaKarrall of Redwood Falls, and many nieces and nephews,
   She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gordon, in 1986; a sister, Lydia Hansen; a grandson, Michael Coyle; a step-great granddaughter, Sara Quiring.
   Agatha was born March 15, 1913 in Waterbury Township, Redwood County, MN to Albert and Mary (Netzke) Dallman. She attended grade school in Wanda and graduated from Lamberton High School. She attended one year of teacher's training in Lamberton. She was baptized and confirmed at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wanda. She married Gordon Bittner on Nov. 30, 1933 in the Christ Lutheran Church in Wanda. The couple made their home in the Lamberton area where they farmed for many years.
   They moved to Lamberton in 1979, Gordon preceded her in death in 1986. Agatha moved to valley View Manor in July of 1998. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church actively involved in the ladies aid, teaching Sunday school and the WELCA.

   Marion Berndtson, 69, of Mundelein, Ill., died on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at her home.
   Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Ivanhoe Congregational Church, Mundelein, with burial at Ivanhoe Cemetery, next to Ivanho Congregational Church.
   She is survived by her husband Barton E. Berndtson, daughters, Lynn E. Orlando, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Leah A. (Pat) Duffy, of Palatine, Ill., grandchildren, Patrick, Jacob and Dayna Duffy, of Palatine, Ill.; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Irene Fischer, of New Ulm; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores and Gordon Thom, of Nicollet, Esther and Wayne Wiechmann, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Valeria and Luther Weindorf, of Mt. Vernon, Wash.,; and mother-in-law, Helen Berndtson, of Barrington, Ill.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Martha Poehler, and sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Arno Geisthardt, of New Ulm.
   She was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Courtland Township. She graduated from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind., in 1952. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Finance from the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration, New York City, in 1961. She worked as an investment research analyst for investment banking firms including Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in New York City, and Robert W. Baird & Co. in Milwaukee, Wis. In 1976, she moved to the Chicago area and worked as a financial analyst appraiser in Des Plaines and Mt. Prospect. From 1984 to 1990 she worked as a cost accountant for Plantation Baking Co., Lake Bluff, Ill. Starting in 1990 she worked as a landscape designer and artist. She lived in Lake County since 1984.

   Orin Ericson, 83, of Cottonwood, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today and will continue Sunday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service today at 7 p.m. at the church. The Sunset Funeral Home of Echo is handling the arrangements.
   He is survived by his wife Mildred; a daughter, Marlys and husband Cliff Sorensen of Sleepy Eye; sons, Gordon and wife Nancy Ericson of Inver Grove Heights and George of Cottonwood; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister Ethel Klima of Hutchinson and a brother, Jewel Ericson of Shakopee.
   He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Glen Ericson.
   He was born Feb. 4, 1917 to Oscar and Minnie (Finbraaten) Ericson near Echo. He attended Echo Public School until his family moved to Alberta in 1929. He attended Alberta Public School and the Agricultural School in Morris.
   In 1936 his family moved to a farm near Cottonwood. In April 1941, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was sent to Camp Claiborne, La. and assigned to Battery B, 151st Field Artillery, 34th Red Dog Division. He was with the first American Troops to be sent overseas in WWII arriving in Ireland in January 1942. In February 1943 he went into battle in Northern Africa, then through the Italian campaigns until the close of the war and he received his honorable discharge in August 1945.
   He married Mildred Isaackson on Sept. 8, 1945 in Silo Lutheran Church and by the rite of confirmation he became a member of the Silo Lutheran Church in 1946.
   The couple farmed in Lucas Township until they retired in 1982 and moved into their home in Cottonwood. He served as a township ASC Committee Chairman and on the Cottonwood Public School board. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood and served as deacon in the Christ Lutheran Church. He also belonged to the V.F.W. Mongeau-Tholen Post No. 742 of Marshall and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post in Granite Falls. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 503 in Cottonwood and was a member of the Last Man's Club of the 34th Red Dog Division. He entered the Clarkfield Care Center in October 1999.

   Florence Hengel, 94, of Arvada, Colo., formerly of Wabasso, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, in Arvada.
   Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and 8:30 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.
   Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, is in charge of the arrangements.

   Lydia Engelking, 92, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
   Arrangements are pending with the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.

   Dorothy Holles, 88, of Springfield, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at St. John's Lutheran Home, Springfield.
   Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.


   Edgar Krohn, 81, of Nicollet died Friday, Feb. 11, 2000, at the Grandview Good Samaritan Center in St. Peter.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nicollet, with burial in the church cemetery, rural Nicollet.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
   In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society. A complete obituary will be published in The Journal on Monday.

   Charles Kelly, 84, of Wabasso, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000 at his home.
   Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso, with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
   Kulow Funeral Service, Echo, is in charge of the arrangements.
   He is survived by his wife Ann; sons and daughters-in-law, Patrickm Kelly, of Minneapolis, Dennis and Kathy Kelly, of Minneapolis, and Mickey Kelly and Colette Cornish of St. Paul; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Dennis McChesney of Marshall, Nancy Zerr of Maple Grove, and Sharon and Rick Freed of Plymouth; six grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Lawrence Brown, of Golden Valley.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Frank; and sister Marjorie.
   He was born May 6, 1915 in Minneapolis to Frank and Ione (Yerxa) Kelly. He graduated from North High School, Minneapolis, and attended the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Ann Damiata on July 27, 1944, in Connecticut. They lived in Minneapolis, where he worked as a pharmacist. They later moved to Green Isle, then Wabasso. He owned and operated Kelly Drug, Wabasso, until retiring in 1989. He was a former member of the Marshall Golf Club, Wabasso Lions, Wabasso American Legion and St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wabasso. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, belonged to a pharmacy fraternity, served on the Wabasso City Council and on the building committee of the Wabasso Nursing Home.
