Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield, with burial in Springfield City Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and will also continue one hour prior to services Monday at the church. He is survived by wife, Phyllis Heinen of Springfield; children, Raymond L. and wife Arlette Heinen of Yankton, S.D., Larry Heinen, Brenda and husband Sheldon Bratsch of Hutchinson, Michael and wife Julie Heinen of Nicollet, Kathy and husband Douglas Price of Eagan, Beth and husband Sam Domeier of Sleepy Eye, David Heinen and special friend Jenny Rehnelt of Windom; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Florence Rasmussen of Bloomington; sisters, Lorraine Meyer of New Ulm, Sister Mary Heinen of Edina, Elizabeth and husband Jack Cole of Shakopee. He was born Sept. 30, 1922 in New Ulm to Arthur and Clara (Neuwirth) Heinen. He grew up in New Ulm and graduated from New Ulm High School in 1940. On July 4, 1953, he married Phyllis Rasmussen in Brookings, S.D. They lived in Springfield where he worked for Glendenning, Murphy Motor Co., operated Four Seasons Drive-in for years, was an agent for Jack Rabbit Bus Depot and U-Haul. He was also in the business of helping people move; and selling milk products, produce, Christmas trees, Christmas candy and several other items. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. Lola D. McDermott, 47 of Springfield died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springfield, with burial in the New Home Mennonite Cemetery in Rosehill Township. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue at the church in Springfield from 9 a.m. until time of services. She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Rupp of Springfield; son, James McDermott and wife Donna of Springfield; and grandson Benjamin McDermott. She was preceded in death by her father. She was born Dec. 28, 1951 in Westbrook to Raymond and Eleanora (Huebert) Rupp. She graduated from Westbrook High School. On Jan. 17, 1970 she married Willis G. McDermott. They settled in Springfield where Lola was involved in a lot of community volunteer work. She was the cook at Hesse Heritage House in Springfield from 1990 until 1995 when her health forced her retirement.
