Minnesota, New Ulm, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at her home. Private family services will be held Friday at Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Viola Rogers, 86, of Lafayette and formerly of Waubun, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center. Arrangements are pending with Firle Funeral Home. Irene Buckentin, 77, of Hamburg died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at Waconia Ridgeview Medical Center. Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Emanuel Lutheran Church at Hamburg with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-8:30 p.m. Friday at Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. She is survived by husband, Walter Buckentin of Hamburg;daughter, Evonne and husband Robert Willmsen of Arlington; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Selma and husband John Sund of Hamburg; brother-in-law, Harold and wife Mary Buckentin of Houlton, Wis., Myrtle Buckentin of Norwood; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sons, Robert in 1972; grandson, Lee Willmsen; sister and brothers-in-law, Helma and Ernst Ristow, Albert Buckentin. She was born April 7, 1921 in Washington Lake Township, Sibley Co. to Ernst and Christine (Gruenhagen) Oelfke. She married Walter Buckentin on April 13, 1941 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Francis DeToy, 86, of Madelia, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia with burial in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Pilgrim Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 3 p.m. and a prayer service at 8:30 p.m., and continues 9-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. He is survived by wife, Dorothy; daughter, Shellee and husband Bill Daley of Madelia; three granddaughters; brothers, Pete of Denver, Thomas and wife Freada of Madison, Richard and wife Wanda of St. James and Robert and wife Louis of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Josephine and husband Don Cianco of Denver. He was preceded in death by brothers, Louis and Daniel Daniel and sister, Clara. He was born Nov. 20, 1912, in Kewannee, Ill. to Camiel and Clemence (VerPlatse) DeToy. He grew up in Rock and Pipestone counties in Minnesota and attended rural schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-46 in Germany, Belgium and England. He married Dorothy Westerbur on Nov. 18, 1946 at Pipestone. They lived there until 1950 when they began farming in rural Edgerton. In 1976 he retired and they moved to Ihlen. In 1991 they moved to Madelia. He served many years on the Pipestone Co-op Board. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Alphonse A. Ubl, 79, of Prior Lake died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at his home. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Prior Lake. Visitation is Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Prior Lake. He is survived by wife Rosella; children, Gerald (Bonnie) of Midlothian, Va., Thomas (Darlene) of New Ulm, Janet Farell Balfe of Burnsville, Pauline (Bernard) Havelke of St. Francis, Beatrice (Delbert) Malenke of Shakopee, Mary Jane (Clint) Van Allen of Northfield, Darlene (Richard) Stage of St. Croix Falls, Wis., Lowell (Peggy) of Burnsville, Deborah (Jerry) Schmidt of Shakopee, Rosemary (Michael) Baggett of Shakopee, Marlene (Michael) Ash of Enid, Okla.; 31 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Beverly) of Coon Rapids, Leo (Lucille) of Bakersfield, Calif., Clarence (Lee) of Corrales, N.M., Marlow (Joyce) of Rockville, Md.; sisters Hildegard (Jack) Raith of Torrance, Calif., Katherine Zeman of Santa Clara, Calif. He was preceded in death by sister Johanna Cordes and brother Ralph Ubl. He was born Jan. 20, 1920, to Alfred and Rose (Schnieder) Ubl in Sigel Township, Brown County. He married Rosella (Hauser) Ubl on Feb. 12, 1943 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. He was employed as a mechanic by Northwest Airlines for 26 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he was a member of the Prior Lake Veterans Guard. He was in the Air Force Reserves, and was a Warrant Officer for the National Guard. He had a total of 29 years of military service. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin.
