   Mabel Burtness, 92 of Mankato died Thursday, February 25, 1999 at the Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
   Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland.
   Visitation will be one and a half hours before the service at the church. Landkamer Johnson-Boman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
   She is survived by nieces, LaJune Mock of Mankato, Hazel Schonrock of New Ulm, Helen Caswell of Waseca; nephews Lawrence Polinski of Pueblo West, CO, Ralph Schwanke of Claremont and Sylvester Hoffmann of Preston; brother-in-law Ruben Burtness of New Richlands.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, two brothers and three sisters.
   She was born on Oct. 26, 1906 in Klossner to Gustov and Ida (Schreyer) Schwarke. She attended school in St. Clair and later graduated from nurses training at the St. Peter State Hospital in 1926. She worked as a nurse in Willmar, Waseca and Stillwater. She married Oscar H. Burtness on June 9, 1933 in Owatonna. She was a waitress for five years at the Owatonna Hotel. They moved to Mankato in 1946. She worked at Arnolds Bell coffee shop and later at States Food Service at Mankato State College, retiring in 1977. She was member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Dorcas Society, Royal Neighbors and was a Red Cross volunteer.

   Donna Jean Knudson, 57, died at her home in Revere on Thursday, February 25, 1999.
   Services will 2 p.m. on Monday with at the Walnut Grove-Westbrook Middle School in Walnut Grove with burial at the Walnut Grove City Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
   Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove and one hour prior to services at the W-WG Middle School.
   She is survived by her husband, DeLon (Mr. D); daughter Tiana Knudson of Pine City; sons and daughter-in-law Ryan and Emily of Mankato; Kohl of Revere; two-step children Mrs. Warren (Paula) Malone of Pine City, David and wife Renee Knudson of North Mankato; granddaughter Piper Jean Knudson of Pine City, step sons, Tim Malone, Matthew Knudson, Daniel Knudson, Trevor Knudson, Nicholas Knudson.
   She is also survived by her parents; sister Mrs. Roger (Linda) Hoechst of Lake Crystal; brothers Robert and wife Anita Pomerenke of Rochester, LeRoy (Butch) and wife Kay Pomerenke of Rexburg Idaho and five nieces.
   She was preceded in death by grandson Nikolas Berning and her father-in-law, and mother-in-law.
   She was born in Mankato on Oct. 7, 1942 to Norbert August and Dorothy (Nelson) Pomerenke, and received her education in Mankato. She attended Mankato State University where she received a degree in Home Economics. Her first teaching position was at the the Walnut Grove High School. She taught Life Sciences and Art in Walnut Grove and Westbrook for 34 years.
   She married DeLon Knudson on Aug. 9, 1975 at the English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. She was also in partnership with her husband in the Prairie House of Crafts Store in Walnut Grove.

   Emma Marie Walden, age 87, of Springfield died Thursday, February 25, 1999 in Springfield.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.
   Visitation is 4-6:30 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and one hour prior to services at the church.
   She is survived by children Glenn Walden of Albequerque, N.M., Joyce and husband Hugh Edmondson of MInnetonka, Janice and husband John Albrecht of Pinehurst, N.C.; four grandchildren; sister Frieda Kohls of Redwood Falls; sisters-in-law Hazel Christensen of Redwood Falls, Evon Christensen of Paynesville, Ruth and husband Ambrose Mathiowetz of Hastings.
   She was preceded in death by her husband Herman in 1988; daughter Berneda Marie in 1945; granddaughter Lynn Albrecht in 1992 and sisters Clara Kohls and Ruth Domke.
   She was born April 4, 1911 in Evan to Jens and Magda (Hansen) Christensen. On March 27, 1929 she married Herman D. Walden in Evan at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye until 1951 when they moved to New Ulm. They retired in 1973 and returned to the Ross Park Apartments in Sleepy Eye. In 1991 Emma entered St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. She worked at Del Monte, Ben Franklin, Rawlings, and Woolworths. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, Ladies Aid, Gloria Del Church Circle and the Sleepy Eye Senior Citizens Center.
