Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with spring burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon, and continues one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Luehring of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudy and Mary Ann Melquist of Richfield, and Ronald and Lois Melquist of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Luehring on May 31, 1982; and a brother, Lyle Melquist. She was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Severance Township, Sibley County, to Arthur and Olga (Dybedal) Melquist. She graduated from the Gibbon High School in 1940. On Nov. 4, 1944, she married Warren Luehring at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. She worked at the Oswald Meat Market in Gibbon, and later as the bookkeeper for the C.J. Johnson Car Dealership in Gibbon. She also worked for the Gibbon Ballroom for many years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon, and was a lifetime member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart No. 8 Auxiliary in Minneapolis. She served on the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery Board for 20 years. Myrtle Wellman, 86, of St. James, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, St. James, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Sturm Funeral Home, and at the church Saturday, one hour prior to the service. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Shirley of Virginia,; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and David Johnson of Eden, S.D.; grandchildren, Michael and Mary Wellman; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Laura Tanhoff; brother, Marvin Reigstad; and a grandson. She was born Feb. 7, 1915, to Spencer and Anna Reigstad in Sleepy Eye. They moved to Willmar where she graduated from high school. She married Glenn Wellman on Sept. 11, 1935. They moved to a farm north of St. James. He died in 1983. She moved to St. James in 1996. She belonged to the United Methodist Church.
