   Donna Mae Monson, 69 of Hutchinson died february 23, 1999 in Mesa, Ariz.
   Services were held Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with burial in the Scandia Grove Lutheran Cemetery in Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County.
   She is survived by husband Merlyn; sons and daughters-in-law Steve and Pat Monson of Willmar, Dave Monson of Hutchinson, Allen Monson of Dassel; Ron and Jonine Monson of Hutchinson; six grand children; one great-granddaughter; brother and sister-in-law Duane and Frances Jaworski of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law and their husbands Linda Jaworski of Minneapolis, Janice and Marvin Kuphal of Gaylord, Fay and Roger Ulrich of Clearbrook, Cecelia and Sylvan Eliason of St. Cloud, Sylvia Monson of Maple Grove; brother-in-law Paul Young of Winthrop, nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by daughter Wendy; son Randy; brothers Cahrles and Richard Jaworski.
   She was born July 8, 1929 in Minneapolis to Viola Larson. She graduated from Winthorp High School with Valedictorian honors. She married Merlyn Monson on the Miner family farm Aug. 9, 1947. They farmed in Sibley County for 19 years, moving to Hutchinson in 1970. She worked at the Milk Plant, a grocery store, and a dentist's office, all in Winthrop. She also worked for Finger Hut and Hutchinson Technology Inc. for 23 years.

   Herbert Buerkle, 97, of Glencoe, formerly Gaylord, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at the Glencoe Area Health Center.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord, and also one hour prior to services at the church.
   He is survived by his wife, Isabella Buerkle of Glencoe; daughters Cloie McCann of Brooklyn Center, Rosanne and husband Max Fowler of Caldwell, Idaho; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by three brothers; four sisters; and son-in-law John McCann.
   He was born Feb. 25, 1902 in Moltke Township, rural Gibbon to Henry C. and Dorothea (Dreier) Buerkle. He married Isabella Quandt on June 30, 1924 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fernando. After their marriage they farmed in rural Stewart where he owned and operated his trucking business and worked as a salesman for a farm equipment company in Gibbon. They moved to Gaylord in 1955. He was Sibley County Sheriff from 1955 to 1962. He was Gaylord Chief of Police from 1963 to 1967. He served as Sibley County Baliff from 1967 to 1985. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, and was a former member of the Minnesota Sheriffs Association and the Minnesota Police Association. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last June. They have been residents of the Glencoe Area Health Care Center Long Term Care since the spring of 1998.

   Mary Burdick, 93, of Lafayette, formerly of New Ulm, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette.
   Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church Wednesday. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
   She is survived by her sons, Dean, of New Ulm, and Les, of Brooten; daughters-in-law, Betty and Shirley, both of Waseca; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Ella Termath of Texas, and Ida Loofboro, of Wisconsin; and nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in 1988, son, Claude, in 1976, and daughter, Patty, in 1996.
   She was born Sept. 20, 1905, in Clever, Mo., to Edgar and Harriet (Skaggs) Grant. She spent her youth in Missouri where she attended school. After graduating from high school she she attended and later graduated from Milton College in Wisconsin. She married Lloyd Burdick on Jan. 3, 1927, in Freeport, Ill. They lived in Minneapolis for two years, then moved to Excelsior where she worked for E.F. Johnson. In 1946 they moved to Waseca and later to Bloomington. They retired and moved to New Ulm in 1973. Following her husband's death in 1988, she continued to live in New Ulm until entering the Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette in 1990.
   She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its ladies' circle.

   Hilbert S. "Hippo" Hansen, 80 of Sleepy Eye died Saturday in Sleepy Eye.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in with burial in Prairieville Cemetery, Evan.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today, and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
   He is survived by sister, Fern Flaig of Springfield; seven nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nieces; many cousins; an uncle John Johnson of Fairfax; and an aunt Dunda Hansen of Sun Prairie, Wis.
   He was born Nov. 25, 1918 in Brookville Township, Redwood Co., to Harvey and Anna (Johnson) Hansen. He moved with his family to a farm in Prairieville Township, Brown County near Evan. He attended grade school in Evan and graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1939. He served in the United State Army during World War II, then moved back to and farmed the home farm. He was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan, where he held various offices, and was on the Prairieville Town Board for several years.

   Oleta M. Tauer, 88, of New Ulm died Monday, March 1, 1999 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
   Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
   Oleta is survived by her husband, Herbert Tauer of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Leander Schwab of New Ulm, Lillian and Marvin Kamm of rural New Ulm, Lydia and Henry Liesenfeld of rural Sleepy Eye, Elizabeth and Leo Dittrich of New Ulm, Dorothy and James Block of Orlando, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Ruth Tauer of New Ulm, and Kenneth and Sandra Tauer of rural New Ulm.; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Tauer; and a granddaughter.
   She was born July 6, 1910 in Sigel Township, Brown County, to George and Mary (Tauer) Dauer. She attended District 68 country school in Sigel Township, Brown County. She married Herbert Tauer on Oct 6, 1931 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Lafayette Township, Nicollet County and then in Sigel Township, Brown County.
   They retired and moved into New Ulm in 1969. She has resided at the Oak Hills Living Center since 1989. She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm.

   Zelda O'Brien, 93, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at the Parkview Care Center in Buffalo.
   Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia, with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family beginning 1/2 hour prior to services.
   She is survived by a daughter Evelyn Rudenick of Delano; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Yates of Madelia.
   She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Buster Yates; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
   She was born Sept. 11, 1905 in Hermosa, S.D. to George and Elva (Russell) Yates. She lived for a time in Madelia and was a registered nurse at the Madelia community hospital for several years. After she married Frank O'Brien in 1954, they left Madelia.

   Carol Willemssen, 69, of Springfield died Monday, March 1, 1999 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield.
   Services are tentatively planned for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield, with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Sanborn.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, and 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

   Elfrieda Niemann, 88 of New Ulm died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999 at the New Ulm Medical Center.
   Graveside services will be held Saturday at the New Ulm City Cemetery.
   Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm.
   She is survived by a sister-in-law Verna Niemann of New Ulm; a nephew Dick and wife Mary Niemann of Hopkins; a niece Carol Niemann-Reinhart of Eden Prairie; great-nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred in 1952; brothers Walter Bentzin in infancy, Alfred Bentzin in 1975.
   She was born March 13, 1910 in New Ulm to Alfred and Rose (Guth) Bentzin. She attended school in New Ulm. On March 12, 1940 she married Alfred Niemann in New Ulm. She was employed as a buyer for Herberger's Department Store for over 35 years. She was also in retail sales and management for Jack Pink (Pink's Department Store) for 11 years and F.W. Woolworth Company for 9 years. She was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm, and was also a member of the Turner Ladies for 50 years.

   Anne Hinenthal, 39, of St. Paul died Friday at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
   Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. James Lutheran Church, 460 West Annapolis Street in West St. Paul. There will be a graveside service at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul"s Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
   Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. today at the Johnson Peterson Funeral Home, 612 South Smith Ave. in St. Paul, and will continue on Wednesday for one hour prior to time of service at the church.
   She is survived by her husband Gerald Weispfenning of St. Paul, a daughter Amy, 6, and a son Eric, 4, both living at home, her mother Alice (Duin) Hinnenthal of Lilydale; sisters and brothers-in-law Faith and Ed Graefe of Columbia Heights, Kathy and Bill Brueggemann of Mukilteo, Wash., Kristi and Jerry Murtaugh of Hastings; a brother and sister-in-law Bob and Liz Hinnenthal of New Ulm; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Marvin and Marlys Weispfenning of Moorhead; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Kathy and Dave Winterfeldt of Gackle, N.D.; Jim and Ruth Weispfenning of Rochester, Ron and Peggy Weispfenning of Hutchinson, Jeff Weispfenning of Minneapolis; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Mark Hinnenthal.
   She was born Aug. 27, 1959 in St. Peter to Mark and Alice (Duin) Hinnenthal. She graduated from St. Peter High School in 1977 and received her bachelor"s degree from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, and her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1985.
   She married Jerry Weispfenning on Sept. 30, 1989 at the St. James Lutheran Church in West St. Paul and made their home in St. Paul after marriage. Until her illness she was employed in the Law Department of The St. Paul Companies. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in West St. Paul. The family requests memorial to the Race for the Cure, St. James Lutheran Church, or the donors choice.
