   Wallace "Wally" Haas, 74 of Sleepy Eye died Friday, March 12, 1999 at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital.
   Funeral arrangements are pending with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

   Lloyd Johnson, 85 of Hanska died February 23, 1999 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
   Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in rural Hanska with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are through Firle Funeral Home in Hanksa.
   He is survived by nieces Judith Smith and her husband Myron of Winona, Mae Olson and her husband Don of Hanska; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
   He was preceded in death by brothers Joe, Carl;, Gilmore, and Milford.
   He was born Dec. 10, 1913 in Albion Township, Watonwan County to Lars and Ragna (Christopherson) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm in Lake Hanska Township and attended country school. He worked in Mankato at a laundry company and assisted his brothers on the farm. He was a member of Lake Hanska Lutheran Church.

   Mayme Isabelle Valen, 89, of Lamberton died Wednesday March 10, 1999 at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Storden Senior Center and one hour prior to services at the church.
   She is survived by daughter Kathleen and husband John Erickson of Boulder, Colo.; two grandchildren; sister Helen Nigg of Lamberton.
   She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; two brothers; three sisters.
   She was born on June 3, 1909 to Torres T. and Bessie (Hillison) Warenas in Storden. She married Clarence Edward Valen on May 3, 1936 at the Old Westbrook Lutheran Church in rural Storden. Following their marriage they made their home at Storden. She was a lifetime member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden, and taught Sunday School and vacation bible school and had been the president of Ladies Aide. She was a member of the Cottonwood County Wellfare Board. Following her husband's death she continued to make her home in Storden until moving to an apartment in Lamberton in 1983. For the past 20 days she had been a resident of the Valley View Manor in Lamberton due to medical conditions.
