Lester P. Weber, 84, of 114 7th East Street in Gibbon, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home. Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in St. Willibrord's Catholic Cemetery in Gibbon. Visitation is 4- 8 p.m. today and 7:30 - 10 a.m. Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. There will be a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. He is survived by his wife, Angeline (Sellner) Weber of Gibbon; daughters and sons-in-law, Marian and William Schmitz of Alexandria, Doris and James Zitzmann of Gibbon, Elaine and Donald Kenyon of Henning, Jenette and James Scoates of Redwood Falls, Donna and Larry Frederickson of New Ulm, Barbara and Keith Foster of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and LuAnn Weber of Brownton, David and Carole Weber of Stockbridge, Ga., Leon and Juliette Weber of Winthrop, Marvin and Jane Weber of Lafayette, Ronald C. Weber of Winthrop, Richard Weber and Dennis Weber of New Ulm, Paul and Dawn Weber of Lafayette; 42 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; brother, George Weber of Gibbon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Joseph Weber in 1999. He was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Gibbon to Sebastian and Mary (Hrdlicka) Weber. He attended country school. He started farming in 1938 on his own. He married Angeline Sellner on May 7, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage, they farmed in rural Gibbon until he retired in 1979. They moved into Gibbon in 1983. He was a member of the St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon and the Catholic Aid Society. Josephine Carlson, 84, of Hector, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Buffalo Healthcare Center. Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Hector with burial in the Hector City Cemetery. Visitation begins at noon Wednesday at the church. Arrangements have been made with Hughes Funeral Home. She is survived by her daughter, Joann Carlson of Burnsville, son, LeRoy Joyce Carlson of Hector; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Mabel Seashore of Los Angeles, Calif., Helen Podratz of Gibbon, Della and husband Herb Boelter of Gaylord; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and sisters, Violet and Emma. She was born on April 14, 1915, in Grafton Township, Sibley County, to Henry and Sophie (Stradtmann) Kirchhoff. She married Richard Carlson on April 18, 1938, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Moltke Township. They farmed in Martinsburg Township until Richard's death in 1965. She moved to Hector where she lived until becoming a resident at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. Joseph A. Jacoby, 100, of Springfield, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery in Springfield. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10 a.m Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a parish service at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will be a men's rosary at the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Viola C. Zins, 96, of 1023 N. Jefferson St., in New Ulm died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at New Ulm Medical Center. Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and will continue 7:30-10 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cathedral, and there will be a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and William Huelskamp and Bonita Boettger all of New Ulm, Evie and Victor Anderson of Fairmont; a son Howard Zins and Terri both of New Ulm. 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Agnes Kopetzki of Mankato. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin C. Zins on Aug. 12, 1979; son-in-law, Gerald Boettger; great-grandson, Jared Steffl; three brothers and four sisters. She was born July 3, 1903 in Brighton Township, Nicollet County, to Nicholas and Anna (Franta) Sondag. On Oct. 22, 1929, she married Martin C. Zins in Swan Lake. They farmed in the Swan Lake area before moving into New Ulm in 1968. She was a member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity New Ulm and Christian Mothers Society. Agnes M. Wheeler , 87, of Brooklyn Center, formerly Redwood Falls, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in Brooklyn Center. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Redwood Falls with burial at the Redwood Falls Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion, V.F.W. and National Guard, Units of Redwood Falls. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls; and continues one hour before services Wednesday at the church . She is survived by a son, Paul A. Wheeler and his wife Donna of Maple Grove; daughter, Jo Anne Hunt of Bloomington; grandchildren, Anthony Hunt, Angela Johnson, Brian Hunt, Amy Wheeler Schulz and Aaron Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her husband in February 1996; son-in-law, Forrest Hunt; brothers Hjalmer, Rudy, Luther, Arthur, Clifford; and sister Elvera Burch. She was born on Dec. 12, 1912, in rural Delhi, Minnesota to Axel and Josephine (Anderson) Hultquist. She graduated from Belview High School in 1930. She did housekeeping the in the Redwood Falls area. In 1936 entered McPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, but quit due to ill health. In the fall of 1936 , she began working as a nurse's aid in Redwood Falls. She ten attended the nursing program at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis and graduated as a registered nurse in 1941. She served in the Army Nurses Corps through Ft. Snelling during World War II, including a year in the Philippines. She was discharged in January 1946. She returned to her job in Redwood Falls. On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Kenneth Wheeler at Belview. She continued her nursing career, including serving as a school nurse from 1954 until 1956. She started the "Nearly Nurses" program. She and her husband farmed southeast of Delhi and retired in 198. They moved to Redwood Falls in September 1995. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and in 1980 she became a member of the Session of the Presbyterian Church and served for three years. She was a member of American Legion and Auxiliary. In September 1978, she became the first woman in Redwood County to join the V.F.W. She is registered with the new Women in War Memorial at Washington, D.C. She was active in the DFL party.
