   Rose Arndt , 81, of Floodwood, Minn., formerly of New Ulm, died Tuesday, March, 16, 2004, at the Paynesville Hospital in Paynesville.
   Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm.

   Joel Botten, Sr. , 89, of Hanska, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
   Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Linden Lutheran Church, Linden Township, Hanska with Rev. Marcia Hegna officiating.
   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to service at the church.
   Joel Ahlness Botten, the son of Theodore and Petra (Ahlness) Botten, was born July 28, 1914 in Linden Township, Brown County where he attended rural school. He was baptized and confirmed at Linden Lutheran Church. Joel married Evelyn Thordson Oct. 30, 1939 at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. Together, they farmed in the Hanska area for many years. Evelyn died in 1972. He married Vernelle Frederickson Ahlness on April 30, 1977, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. Joel enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening and especially enjoyed using his woodworking skills. He was a member of Linden Lutheran Church.
   Survivors include his wife Vernelle of Hanska; sons, Joel Botten, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Mankato, David Botten and his wife Leslie of Hanska; daughters, Darlene Pizel and her husband Kenneth of Owatonna, Julie Untiedt and her husband Gary of New Ulm; sister, Sylvia Hanson of Hanska; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
   In addition to his parents and wife Evelyn, Joel was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters; and a stepdaughter Leah Rae Kjelhus.

   Terry Lynn Busch , 56 ,of La Salle, died on Sunday, March 14, 2004, at at his home.
   Services are 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 18, at La Salle Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Calumet, Iowa.
   Visitation is 4-6 p.m., Wednesday, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, and one hour before the service Thursday at the church.
   He is survived by his mother Merles Busch of Paullina, Iowa; and sister Carmen Waggoner of Sutherland, Iowa.
   He was born Feb. 16, 1948, in Primghar, Iowa, to Glenn and Merles (Ebel) Busch.

   Ethelbert 'Bert' Mathiowetz , 85, of Sleepy Eye died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
   Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye on Thursday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. Burial St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
   Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 and on Thursday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
   Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye on Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
   Ethelbert John Mathiowetz was born March 6, 1919 in Mulligan Township to Bartl and Theresa (Reminger) Mathiowetz.
   He is survived by his wife, Agnes Mathiowetz of Sleepy Eye; a brother, Tony Mathiowetz of Minneapolis; and a sister, Marie Cook of Sleepy Eye. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Ambrose, Wendelin, Alfred, Joseph, Leo, Leonard, Art, and his twin brother, Harrybert in infancy; and a sister, Theresa Nachreiner.

   Mary HillesheimSPRINGFIELD -- Mary Hillesheim, 81, of Springfield, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at her home.
   Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

   Nathan Richter , 21, of 110 N. Garden, New Ulm, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
   Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm.
