   Stanley G. "Windy" Windhorn, 85 , of 110 1/2 N. Minnesota Street in New Ulm, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at New Ulm Medical Center.
   Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier's Rest Section. Graveside military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
   He is survived by his wife, Marie Windhorn of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Beussman of New Ulm, Jamie and Andy Dalle of New Ulm; grandchildren, Dr. Douglas Beussman of Lafayette, Ind., Audra Beussman of Albert Lea and Erin Beussman of New Ulm; a brother and sister-in-law, Delmar and Donna Windhorn of New Ulm; and by nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents.
   He was born Jan. 19, 1916, in New Ulm to Hugo and Annie (Juenemann) Windhorn. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1934. He joined the Minnesota National Guard Army band while in high school. He was called to active duty on Jan. 16, 1940, and was sent to California. The 215th Army Band was sent to Kodiak, Alaska in 1941 where he was stationed until 1944 when the group was sent to El Paso, Texas. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. He married Ethel Marie Cheney on April 14, 1944, in Minneapolis. He worked as a printer in high school at the Herzog Printing in New Ulm. After his discharge he worked as a printer in Mason City, Iowa. They moved to New Ulm where he worked for Herzog Printing until his retirement in 1978. He continued to work as a printer after retirement. He played with the Schell's Hobo Band for 20 years, and was an original member of the band, one of the three triple-tonguing trumpeters. He joined the New Ulm Fire Department on May 7, 1951, and retired May 3, 1971, serving on the Hook and Ladder Company. He served as president of the New Ulm Fire Department for 16 years. He was the New Ulm Fire Department's oldest fireman.

   Garnet E. Zieske , 90, of Wabasso, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Wabasso Health Care Center.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Avon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Salem United Methodist Cemetery at a later date.
   Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood, Falls, and continues one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
   Burial will be in the Salem United Methodist Cemetery at a later date.
   He is survived by his children, Patricia Armstrong and husband Wes of Duluth, Donald Zieske and. wife LouAnn of New London; sisters, Marcella Berg, Juanita Jensen, Arlene Kerkhoff; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ingrid, and brother Calvin Zieske.
   He was born April 14, 1910, in New Avon Township to Ira and Lena (Zimmerman) Zieske. He attended school in Rowena and District 14 through the eighth grade. When His mother became ill, he left school to help his father farm. As a young man, he hauled grain to northern Minnesota and brought lumber back on the return trip. He also had a threshing machine and a crew. In 1933, he started a lumber yard in rural Wabasso. He eventually established lumber yards in Lamberton in 1952 and Wanda in 1953. He also owned the Clements and Rowena community elevators, and Wabasso Grain and Feed. In 1987, he moved his country lumber yard to the BV Building Center. He was in the lumber business for 61 years until he sold the Wabasso Building Center in 1996.
   He married Ingrid Anderson on Sept. 14, 1941. They lived in rural Wabasso and moved to town in 1992.
   He was a member of the New Avon Salem United Methodist Church, Wabasso Lions, Wabasso Commercial Club, Masons, the Decisions Hills Board, and Lumberman's Association. He received life-time achievement awards from Lions, 4-H, Lumberman's Association and Wabasso Commercial Club.
   

   Regina (Mrs. Leo) Jandl, 85, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Fairfax Community Home.
   Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairfax, with burial in the church cemetery, Cairo Township, Renville County.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, and 7:30-8 a.m. Saturday at Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax, and at the church Saturday, one hour prior to the Mass. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.

   Myrtle Benson, 83, formerly of rural New Ulm died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan.
   Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.

   Theresa Plaetz, 89, of Lucan, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at the Redwood Falls Hospital.
   Services are 3 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Lucan, with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today, and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the church.
   The Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls is handling arrangements.
   She is survived by her husband, Frank; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Nancy, and Robert and Julie; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Caroline Brau, and Marina Brau.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and eight stepbrothers and sisters.
   She was born July 5, 1911, on the family farm near Lucan to August and Theresa (Mueller) Brey. She attended grade school at Lucan Public School and Milroy High School. She married Frank Plaetz on Sept. 20, 1937. She belonged to the Our Lady of Victory Christian Mothers, CCW, Catholic Aid Council, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
