State St., New Ulm, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Oak Hills Living Center, New Ulm.    Arrangements are pending with Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm.    Mary Ann Johnson, 53, of Lafayette, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at her home.    Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Lafayette, with burial in the Church of St. George Cemetery.    Visitation is 4-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Firle Funeral Home, Lafayette and continues one hour before services at the church. A parish prayer service is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.    Magnus 'Max' Schirlinger, 84, of 1001 N. Payne Street in New Ulm died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at New Ulm Medical Center.    Service are 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Church of Christ in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.    Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and continues 7:30-8:30 Wednesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm; and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.    He is survived by sisters, Laura Schirlinger of the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin, and Agnes Prax of St. Paul; brothers, Herbert and his wife Stella Schirlinger of New Ulm, and Edwin Schirlinger of Casper, Wyo.; and nieces and nephews.    He was preceded in death by sister Caroline Brandel.    He was born Sept. 3, 1914 in St. Cloud to Ludwig and Mary (Schmid) Schirlinger. He married Alice Scheibel on Sept. 18, 1955 at Frieden's Church in New Ulm. He was a medic with the United States Army and served in France. After the service he worked at the rye mill in New Ulm until his retirement in the late 1970s. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm.    Leona Borchert, 89, formerly of 711 S. Minnesota Street in New Ulm died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Oak Hills Assisted Living Center in New Ulm.     Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.    Ervin "Erv" H. Huwe, St., 77, of Winthrop, died Sunday, March 21, 1999, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.    Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Evangelical Covenant Church, Winthrop, with burial in Winthrop Cemetery at a later date.    Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop; and continues one hour before services Thursday at the church.    A complete obituary will be published in Wednesday's edition.
