   Mary Ann Johnson, 53, of Lafayette died Monday, March 22, 1999 at her home.
   Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory the Great
   Catholic Church in Lafayette, with burial in the Church of St. George Catholic Cemetery, St. George.
   Visitation is 4 to 8:30 p.m. today at Firle Funeral Home in Lafayette and one hour prior to services at the church. A parish prayer service is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. today at the funeral home.
   She survived by her husband Donald, of Lafayette; a daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Duane Anderson of Gibbon; son, Jamie Johnson of Minneapolis and his fiancee Amy Liebl of New Ulm; four grandchildren; brothers, Joe and his wife Colleen Bianchi of Sibley, Iowa, Dennis Bianchi of New Ulm, Frank and his wife Nancy Bianchi of New Ulm, Michael and his wife Gail Bianchi of Gibbon; sisters, Agnes and her husband Doug Rowley of EsthervIlle, Iowa, Cecelia and her husband Joe Meyer of New Ulm, Jean and her husband Steve Boucher of Worthington; mother-in-law, Mildred Johnson of Lafayette; sisters-in-law, Patty Rodewald of New Ulm, Sherri and her husband Dick Duer of Vadnais Heights; and nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded In death by her parents, father-In-law, and an infant sister, Mary Jo Bianchi.
   She was born July 27, 1945, in New Ulm to Ferdinand and Irene (Buysse) Bianchi. She grew up on the family farm and attended grade school in St. George. She graduated from New Ulm High School In 1963. She married Donald Johnson on Nov. 21, 1964 at the Church of St. George Catholic Church. For 17 years she worked as a paraprofessional for the Lafayette school, until illness forced her retirement. She was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church of Lafayette.

   Leona Borchert, 89, formerly of 711 S. Minnesota St. in New Ulm died Monday, March 22, 1999 at the Oak Hills Assisted Living Center in New Ulm.
    Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
    Visitation will be 5 - 8 p.m. today and 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a combined rosary by the Catholic Order of Foresters and the St. Anne's Court, N.C.S.F. at 6:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
   She is survived by her daughter and son-in-aw, Sue and Philip Liesch of New Ulm; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Helene Borchert of Le Sueur; grandchildren, Christine Olsen and her husband, Brett of Red Wing, Ann Paladie and her husband Steve of New York, N.Y.; great- grandchildren, Paige and Spencer Olsen; sisters, Alice Berdan of New Ulm, Marilyn Stelton of Brooklyn Center; sisters in law, Irma Schwantes of Fulda, and Rose Zupfer of New Ulm.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, William K. Borchert; daughter, Carol Borchert; son, William B. Borchert, Jr.; and two sisters and three brothers.
   She was born on Feb. 12, 1910 in New Ulm to Andrew and Anna (Tauer) Zupfer. She married William K. Borchert on June 8, 1932 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. She had worked at Stork Brothers, Webcor and the Union Hospital in New Ulm. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, St. Anne's Court No. 389, National Catholic Society of Foresters (N.C.S.F.), Golden Age Club, Royal Neighbors, Meals on Wheels, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Ministry of Praise.

    Orval Marquardt, 89, of 1026 S. State Street, New Ulm, died Monday afternoon at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
   Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with burial to follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm. A parish prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
   He is survived by his sons, Orval Jr., and his wife Nancy of North Mankato, Richard and his wife Doris of New Ulm; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters Alice Drusch of Litchfield, Augusta "Tudy" Helwig of Hastings; brother Harvey and his wife Dorothy Marquardt of New Ulm; brother-in-law Gert "Bud" Ulrich and his wife Darlene of Lafayette; sister-in-law Frances "Daisy" Schreiner of Young America; nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle; and sisters; Violet, Mildred, and Agnes.
   He was born on July 30, 1909, to Edward and Phoebe (Lane) Marquardt, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County. He married Myrtle Ulrich on July 10, 1929 in St. Paul. They lived in New Ulm where he worked for New Ulm Brick & Tile and New Ulm Power Plant. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. He became a resident of Oak Hills Living Center in February of 1997. His wife died in August 1998.

   Ervin 'Erv' H. Huwe Sr., 77, of Winthrop died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
   Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop, with burial in the Winthrop Cemetery at a later date.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Thursday, at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop; and continues one hour before services Thursday at the church.
   He is survived by sons, Erv Huwe Jr. and his wife Marsha of Winthrop; Lowell Huwe of Detroit Lakes; daughters, Kathy Huwe of Corcoran, Lori Huwe of Hutchinson, Lynelle Hutchinson of Minneapolis and Nancy Olson and her husband, Rick of Litchfield; six grandchildren; brothers, Norb Huwe and wife Noreen of Frazee, Lyle Huwe and his wife, Winnie of Perham, Emil Huwe and wife Sally of Franklin, Leroy Huwe and wife Rosie of Ottertail, Donald Huwe and his wife Gerry of Arthur, N.D. and Marvin Huwe and wife Francis of Plato; sister, Ardell Danielson and her husband, Bernard of Arvilla, N.D. and numerous nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his brother Elmer.
   He was born Feb. 20, 1922 in Perham to Herman and Tina (Meyers) Huwe. He grew up in the Perham area, where he attended country school. During his lifetime, he worked as a laborer for numerous farmers. He moved to Winthrop in 1992, and resided in Cornish Township, Sibley County. He entered the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center on Feb. 18, 1999. He was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop where he served as an usher.

   Irvin Messerschmidt, 84, of 1021 N. Garden No. 110 in New Ulm died Tuesday, March 23, 1999 at the Veteran's Hospital in Minneapolis.
   Services are 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm veterans organizations.
    Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Friday.
   He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Messerschmidt of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-aw, Karen and Arlen Koestler of New Ulm, and Pam and Vern Clobes of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Lee Messerschmidt of Douglasville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Luella Jensen, and Geraldine Grahs both of Eau Claire, Wis., Elaine and Don Larson, and Veronica Connell, all of Lake City, and Beverly Hale of New Ulm; bothers, Irlin Messerschmidt of Apple Valley, Calif., and David Messerschmidt of Wendall.
   He was preceded in death by brother Wesley Messerschmidt, and a sister Laura Messerschmidt in infancy.
   He was born June 24, 1914, in Cobden, Minn., to Paul and Anna (Stage) Messerschmidt. He attended St John's Lutheran Grade School in Sleepy Eye, and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public School. He married Kathryn Zieske on Aug. 27, 1939 in Danube. He worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company in Sleepy Eye and St. James from 1937 until 1950. After marriage he worked at the Log Cabin restaurant and the Sanborn City Cafe. In 1950 he started as a sales manager for the Gold Bond Stamp Company. He became a sales and service supervisor and in 1957 became the company "trouble shooter." They then moved to Nebraska and he managed that division, later moving to Des Moines. In 1964 the family moved to London where he became Gold Bond's first international sales executive. They returned to the United States in 1967, when became president and director of a subsidiary company in Detroit and later in Atlanta. He retired and returned to New Ulm in 1972. He was a former member of the Sleepy Eye Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

   Leona Terhofter, 88, of Lafayette, formerly of 300 N. Broadway, New Ulm, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette.
   Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
   She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, William on June 6, 1965; sisters, Amanda Domeier, Clara Berg, Annie Kaping, Lena Buggert, Ella Kirshstein, Lydia Peterson, Alma Ratzke, and Elfreida Rickers in infancy; brothers, Fred Wilfahrt, Charles R. Wilfahrt, Bill Rickers, Art Rickers, Leonard Rickers, and John ("Curly") Rickers.
   She was born Nov. 22, 1910, in New Ulm, to John and Margaret (Hoffman) Rickers. She attended public school in New Ulm. On July 16, 1927, she married William Terhofter in New Ulm. After her marriage, she worked as a cook at the Waneeda Café. She also worked many years in the dietary department of the Loretto Hospital, the former Union Hospital and at Highland Manor, New Ulm. She became a resident of the Lafayette Good Samaritan Center in July 1993. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary.

   Glen Siekmann, 67, of Franklin, died Monday, March 22, 1999 at Redwood Falls Hospital.
   Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Franklin with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to services at the church.
   He is survived by his wife Evelyn Siekmann of Franklin; children; Janet Groff and husband Leonard of Springfield, Beverly Roiger and husband Larry of Cannon Falls, Glenda Zupfer of Franklin, Muriel Siekmann of Olivia, Connie Gregg and husband Steve of Sleepy Eye, Ruth Johnson and husband David of Franklin, Garry Siekmann and wife Gail of Woodbridge, Va., Gloria Hale and husband Lee of Sleepy Eye, Duane Siekmann of Nicollet, and Laura Siekmann of Fairmont; 16 grandchildren; sisters; Arlene Brandes of Fairmont, Lillie Schroeder and husband Douglas of North Mankato, and Doris Schramm and husband Ernest of Redwood Falls, and many nieces, and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer, Roy, Earl, Vernon, Roland, Otto, and Alan, and a sister Evelyn.
   He was born June 16, 1931 in Willow Lake Township, Redwood County, to Otto and Rose (Guggisberg) Siekmann He attended country school in Redwood County. On Oct. 22, 1954 he married Evelyn Mae Hamilton at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tracy. They made their home in the Springfield and Comfrey areas. Glen spent 25 years working for Moorman's Manufacturing. He spent most his life working in farm related jobs. In December 1986 he retired and moved to Franklin in May 1987. He was a member of a saddle club.
