State Street, New Ulm, died Monday afternoon at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm, with burial to follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm. A parish prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. He is survived by his sons, Orval Jr., and his wife Nancy of North Mankato, Richard and his wife Doris of New Ulm; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters Alice Drusch of Litchfield, Augusta "Tudy" Helwig of Hastings; brother Harvey and his wife Dorothy Marquardt of New Ulm; brother-in-law Gert "Bud" Ulrich and his wife Darlene of Lafayette; sister-in-law Frances "Daisy" Schreiner of Young America; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle; and sisters; Violet, Mildred, and Agnes. He was born on July 30, 1909, to Edward and Phoebe (Lane) Marquardt, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County. He married Myrtle Ulrich on July 10, 1929 in St. Paul. They lived in New Ulm where he worked for New Ulm Brick & Tile and New Ulm Power Plant. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. He became a resident of Oak Hills Living Center in February of 1997. His wife died in August 1998. Ross Kujas, 39, of Brownton, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at his home. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Brownton, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church. Arrangements are handled by Hantge Funeral Chapel of Brownton. Carl Hanson, 94, of Winthrop, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Center. Arrangements are pending at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop. Bernard 'Ben' J. Stresemann, Jr., 86, of Winthrop, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Care Center. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop; and continues one hour before services Saturday at the church. He is survived by his son, Reuben Stresemann, and his wife, Paula of Raleigh, N.C.; randchildren, Renee Pfendler of Wake Forest, N.C., Sherri Smith of San Antonio, Texas and Douglas Stresemann of Raleigh, NC; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Otto Stresemann and his wife, Esther of Hutchinson, and Daniel Stresemann and his wife, Holly of Hutchinson, two sisters-in-law Esther Stresemann and Elaine Stresemann, both of Winthrop, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leo, Gerhard and Julius Stresemann; three sisters, Hertha Pagel, Frieda Johnson and Laura Stresemann, in childhood; three half-siblings, Herbert, Fritz, and Amanda Stresemann; brothers-in-law, Arnold Pagel and Harry Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Stresemann. He was born on Sept. 6, 1912, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Bernard and Martha (Klukas) Stresemann, Sr. He grew up in Bismarck Township and attended District No. 51 School. He was the former husband of Lillie (Remus) Stresemann. He farmed for 26 years in Bismarck Township and later worked at Green Giant in LeSueur, and the grain elevator in Winthrop. He entered the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center on Aug. 13, 1997. He was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. He was the Bismarck Township clerk for 20 years. He also served six years on the District 76 School Board and was on the Creamery Board in Winthrop for six years. Elizabeth 'Libby' Overmeyer of Redwood Falls, 92, died on Monday, March 22, 1999 at Redwood Falls Hospital. Services are 10:30 p.m. Saturday, at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m.Friday at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. She is survived by a daughter L. Joyce Posthumus and husband Allen of Stillwater; grandchildren; Dr. Dirk Posthumus and wife Jean of St. Michael, Daniel Posthumus and wife Cheryl of Harlingen, Texas; five great-grandchildren; sisters; Marguerite Underhill and husband George of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Dolores Weaver of Stockton, Calif. and a brother Dwayne Selke of Wichita Falls, Texas. She was preceded in death by husband Roland in 1973; and brothers; Bernard, Norman and William Selke. She was born on July 1, 1906 to Frederick and Lulu (Wise) Selke in Versailles, Indiana. She moved with her family to Burdette, S.D. in 1909 and lived there until 1924 when they moved to Redwood County. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1925 and Normal Teachers Training in 1926. On Jan. 16,1928 she married to Roland Overmeyer in Redwood Falls. They farmed in Redwood County and near Amboy until 1935 when they moved to Redwood Falls. She worked at Ehlers Department Store. She retired in 1968. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She belonged to Eastern Star and Sorosis Study Club. She was a baseball booster, a blood blank volunteer and belonged to the Hospital Auxiliary. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers.
