Wilhelmine Schmidt, 89, of Courtland, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at the New Ulm Medical Center. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. Monday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to service at the church. Wilhelmine Lydia Martha Kratzke, the daughter of Anton and Wilhelmina (Hermel) Kratzke, was born May 19, 1914 in Nicollet County, where she spent her youth and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Wesley Schmidt November 21, 1935 in Winthrop. Together, they spent their entire married life in Courtland. Wilhelmine worked at Eibner's in New Ulm and Foster's Grocery in Courtland. Her husband died August 1, 1991. She was a member of Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church and an honorary member of the Martha Circle. Wilhelmine was also active in Courtland Senior Citizens. She loved gardening, crafts, crocheting, and fishing. Survivors include her daughter, Carrie Woller and her husband Albert of Courtland; son, Byron Schmidt and his wife Debra of Courtland; grandchildren, Jenna Silva, Jared Schmidt, Kevin and Brent Woller; sister-in-law, Lillian Studtmann and her husband Willmar of Courtland; brothers-in-law, Walter Hulke of New Ulm, Fillmore Wilking of Kasota; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Herman and Ruben Kratzke, and sister Emelia Rengstorf. Gladys Marian (Simpson) Burns, 90 ,of Lamberton, died on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Springfield Medical Center in Springfield. Visitation will be 9 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Gladys Marion Burns was born Dec. 28, 1913 in Terril, Iowa, to Floyd and Rosie (Kallsen) Simpson. She is survived by her sisters, Helen Kaseforth of Springfield, Esther Foy of Sanborn, Arlene Dammann of Sanborn, Mary Raitz of Brooklyn Park, and Delores Hogen of Sanborn. Eigel Pederson, 86, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, March 26, 2004, in Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are pending with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
