Gretta Pugmire, 85, of Orem, Utah, formerly of New Ulm, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo. Arrangements for private family services are being arranged with Firle Funeral Home, New Ulm. She is survived by daughters, Jerie and husband Ed Stewart of Soda Springs, Idaho, LaRue and husband Michael Shore of Atlanta, Ga., Colleen and husband LaMar Helquist of Orem, Utah, Julie and husband Roger Ring of Sac City, Iowa, and Vickie Backer of St. Paul; son, Tim and wife Gail of Woodbury; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Thora Martz, Laura and husband Jake Jacobson, and Beth McCarron, all of Pocatello, Idaho; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Tim and sister Marjorie Bidwell. She was born Sept. 19, 1914 in Lund, Idaho, to Harold and Eva (Housmann) Spackman. She attended school in Idaho. She married Tim Pugmire on Aug. 19, 1932 in Sterling, Idaho. They lived in Pocatello, Idaho until 1955, when they moved to New Ulm with the opening of the Kraft plant, where Tim was the engineer. She moved to Orem, Utah, in 1998 to be near her daughter. Anna Mae StroeingFREEPORT -- Anna Mae Stroeing, 67, of Freeport, died Thursday, April 5, 2000, at Saint Josephs Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 3:30-9 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Freeport senior citizens will pray at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, followed by Christian Mothers and Catholic Aid at 7 p.m. and parish prayers at 8 p.m. Patton-Schad Funeral Service, Melrose, is handling arrangements. She is survived by her husband Sylvester of Freeport; children, Glenn and wife Bev of Alexandria, John and wife Sharon of New Ulm, Kathleen Luethmers and husband Ken of Albany, Lori Ann Pohlmann and husband Mike of Melrose, Lisa Orton and husband Garron of Foley, and Amy of St. Paul; seven brothers and sisters; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son Timothy. She was born in St. Martin to John and Rose (Kohorst) Wensmann. She worked for several years at St. Benedicts College, St. Joseph. She married Sylvester Stroeing on May 14, 1951 in Freeport. They lived in St. Paul, moving to Freeport in 1960. She retired in 1985. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Freeport, the Christian Mothers, Sacred heart Catholic Aid, Young at Hearts Club and the church choir. Willliam Hanssen, 96, of Fairfax, died on Friday, April 7, 2000, at the Wood Dale Nursing Home, Redwood Falls. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Fairfax, with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. He is survived by three sisters, Florence Beilke of New Ulm, Norma Hage of Rochester and Meryl Pinnow of North St. Paul; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents and five brothers, Clarence, Albert, Loren, Floyd and Elmer Hanssen. He was born October 26, 1903 in Fairfax to John and Anna (Wicht) Hanssen. He attended school in Fairfax. He worked for the Crescent Mill and Jacob Hinderman Construction in Fairfax, the Civil Conservation Corps, and two Chicago construction firms. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1944. He retired in 1968 and lived in Fairfax before moving to Wood Dale in 1994. He belonged to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, the Fairfax American Legion Club, and Chicago District Carpenters Union. Roy Schaefer, 72, of New Ulm died Friday, April 7, 2000 at the Luther Memorial Home, Madelia. Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. Marie Greene, 77, of Redwood Falls died on Thursday, April 6, 2000, at the Redwood Falls Hospital Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 10, at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls one hour prior to services at the church Monday. She is survived by her husband Louie, of Redwood Falls, and children, James Greene and wife Lonny of Valle, Ariz., Anna Tanner of Redwood Falls, and Ronald Greene and wife Robyn of Westmont, Ill.; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and three brothers, Donald Wederath, Robert Wederath and George Rolland Wederath, of Milwaukee, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank. She was born July 30, 1922 in Morton, to George and Florence (Simons) Wederath. She attended Morton Schools, graduating from Morton High School in 1940. She married Louie F. Greene on Dec. 21, 1941 in Morton. They lived in Morton. Louie served in the service and they then farmed southwest of Redwood Falls until retiring in 1981 and moving into Redwood Falls. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and was a member of the Degree of Honor Lodge in Redwood Falls. For many years, she won ribbons for floral arrangements and divinity candy she took to the Redwood County Fair. Eunice 'Teddy' J. Molumby, 78, of St. James, died on Thursday, April 6, 2000, at her home. A private family service will be held at a later date. Sturm Funeral Home in St. James is handling arrangements. She is survivcd by daughters, Karen and husband Orin Menzel of Alexandria, Teddy and husband Randy Arnesen of Menomonie, Wis., Susan and husband Roger Kleppe of Burnsville; sons, Bob Ronson of Minneapolis, and Joey and wife Jody Bean of Zimmerman; manygrandchildren and great grandchildren; and two brothers, Glen Miller of St. James, and Dean Miller of Monticello. She was born June 26, 1921, in Minneapolis, to the Howard and Delia (Quillan) Miller. She married George Molumby in 1944 at the Little Brown Church in Iowa. Following George's death in 1964, she moved to St. James where she worked for Tony Down's Foods for several years. Lena Emelie Oetting, 95, a lifelong resident of the New Ulm area, died April 2, 2000 at the New Ulm Medical Center. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Ulm City Cemetery. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements. She was born in Courtland Township on May 24, 1904, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Peterl) Oetting. She spent her early childhood on the Oetting family farm east of the city. Miss Oetting's father died when she was 10. When she was 13, her mother bought the home at 504 South Broadway, which became Lena's residence for 73 years. In 1990, she move to Highland Manor and was a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center at the time of her death. Miss Oetting graduated from the New Ulm High School. Many New Ulm residents knew her as a sales clerk in a succession of local department stores. She was a 50 year member of the New Ulm Turnverein and an active participant in its functions in her youth. She was a member of the first girl scout troop in New Ulm. She belonged to the former Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in New Ulm and then became a faithful member of the United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her brother William, and sisters Alma and Bertha. She was a favorite aunt and is survived by Alice Eyrich of St. Paul, Dorothy Anderson of Mission, Texas, Charles Amann of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and William Amann of Gainesville, Florida. She is also survived by several grand nieces and nephews, and special friends Jeanne and Merlyn Boesch of New Ulm. Memorials can be sent to Firle Funeral Home, and then will be forwarded to the family.
