Roy C. Reinke, 86, formerly of New Ulm, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia. Funeral service and burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements. Darwin Samuelson, 86, of Two Harbors, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at Lake View Memorial Hospital, Two Harbors. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Winthrop Cemetery. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Monday at United Church, Two Harbors, followed by a service. Arrangements were handled by Cavallin Funeral Home, Two Harbors. He is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Darla and husband Willard Okeson of Grove City, and Donna and husband Lynn Luchsinger of New Richmond, Wis.; sister, Amaryllis Reeves of Roseville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Deanna Monroe; and granddaughter, Dawn Monroe. He was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Bernadotte Township, to Levi W. and Alice (Johnson) Samuelson. He grew up on the family farm in Bernadotte Township. He graduated from Winthrop High School in 1931. He farmed after high school. He married Doris Woods in 1938. They moved to Two Harbors in 1966. He operated the Daisy Shop on the North Shore of Lake Superior. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Lafayette Methodist Church, and United Church of Two Harbors. Gertrude Lager, 92, of Roseville, formerly of Winthrop, died Thursday, April 27, 2000 at Fairview University Hospital, Minneapolis. Arrangements are pending with Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop. Esther W. Jackson, 94, of Lake Crystal, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Lake Crystal Health Care Center. Arrangements are pending with Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia. George Ludewig, 75, of Franklin, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Franklin Health Care Center. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in Home Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and at the church one hour prior to the service. He is survived by his wife, Inez of Sleepy Eye; daughter Pamela and husband Don Hirsch of Sleepy Eye; son Jeffrey and wife Nancy Ludewig of Sleepy Eye; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; mother, Pearl Ludewig of Sleepy Eye; brother, Sylvester "Bud" Ludewig of Sleepy Eye; sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene Houghtaling of Carmichael, Calif., Delrose and Wilbert Seifert, Delores and Robert Gulden and Luverna and George Berg, all of New Ulm; and brother-in-law, Robert Berg, Jr., of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his father, Urban; sisters, Marie in infancy and Marion Berg; and brother-in-law, Paul Houghtaling. He was born Nov. 20, 1924, in Home Township, Brown County, to Urban and Pearl (Mickelson) Ludewig. He attended District 39. He married Inez Evers on Feb. 11, 1947 in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed in Stark Township for 44 years before moving to Sleepy Eye in 1991. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Margaret Tauer, 92, of Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at the New Ulm Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
