German St., Ridgeway on German, New Ulm died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at her home. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery, New Ulm. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cathedral and there will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She is survived by her husband, Eldon Dolly of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Don Steinhaus, Kathy and Steve Weyer, and Mary and Charles Koch, all of New Ulm; son and daugher-in-law, Jerry and Carol Dolly of Eden Prairie; daughter-in-law, Rosie Dolly of New Ulm; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Boettger of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Ralph Boettger, and sons, Ronald in 1968 and Thomas in 2001. She was born Aug. 7, 1920, in New Ulm, to Rudolph and Anna (Beyer) Hauer. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in New Ulm. She married Eldon Dolly on Feb. 3, 1942, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Prior to her marriage she worked as a seamstress for the LaMode Dress Making Shop, New Ulm. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Society and the Turner Ladies Society, all in New Ulm. Gordon Hagen, 67, of Morgan, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at the Redwood Area Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home, Morgan, with burial in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Gilfillan. Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday, one hour prior to the service. He is survived by a half-sister, Doris Zihnow of Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, step-father, half-brother and half-sister. He was born March 17, 1934 in Minneapolis, to Oliver and Frances (Jensen) Hagen. He attended country school near Morgan and Sleepy Eye High School. He did construction work in Sleepy Eye, Minneapolis and Morgan and at the sugar beet plant in Renville. Harvey A. Steinhaus, 84, of 714 N. Spring St. in New Ulm died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the Franklin Healthcare Center in Franklin. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Full military graveside honors will be conducted by New Ulm veterans organizations. Visitation will one hour prior to services Monday, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. He is survived by sister, Eleanor Harmening of New Ulm; brothers, Earl and Melvin, both residents of the Countryside Apartments in Sleepy Eye; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Ervin. He was born Sept. 26, 1916 in Clements, to Henry and Amelia (Zamzow) Steinhaus. He served in the Army during WWII in Alaska. After he was discharged, Harvey was self employed as a carpenter until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Seifert-Bianchi American Legion Post 132 and The Veterans of Foreign Wars Alfred Naegel Post 1648, both in New Ulm. Harvey had been a resident of the Franklin Healthcare Center since November 2000. Henry Lentz, 86, of Gaylord, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at the Sibley Medical Center, Arlington. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Fenske Family Funeral Home, Gaylord, and at the church Monday, one hour prior to the service. He is survived by a son & daughter-in-law, Sheldon & Karen Lentz of Pillager; a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen & Harold Pauly of Redwood Falls; four grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna Kremer of Watertown, S.D., Beatrice Koester of Glencoe, Marilyn and Myron Bandow of Gibbon, Barbara and Ronald Rieke of Gibbon and Evelyn Herschman of Glendale. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Emilie (Oct. 99); a sister Alma Duenow; and three brothers, Otto, Bill, and Dan Lentz He was born Jan. 20, 1915 in Henry, S.D. to Edward & Mabel (Jaehn) Lentz. He attended Codington County School in Henry. He married Emilie Hansch Nov. 24, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. From 1968-1980, he worked in construction and drainage for Eric Johson prior to operating his own business; Drainage Inc. in Winthrop. He also worked with Gaylord Development and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Hilmer Wendland, 83, of Winthrop, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Sibley Medical Center, Arlington. Arrangements are pending at Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop. A complete obituary will appear in a later edition of The Journal. Robert Gustafson, 80, of Madelia, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at the Madelia Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending with the Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia. Gilbert Griepentrog, 73, of New Ulm, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, with burial at a later date in the New Ulm City Cemetery. There will be no visitation or reviewal. Firle Funeral Home of New Ulm is handling the arrangements. He is survived by sisters, Alvina Kleman of North Mankato, and Gertrude Jones of New Ulm; special niece, Lori Wehrwein, her husband R.E. and their children Derek and Connor, of New Ulm, and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers-in-law. He was born May 22, 1927 in Mission, S.D., to Gustav and Ida (Brei) Griepentrog. He moved with his family to Minnesota in 1938, and worked for the Brown County Highway Department for many years. He lived at Sunset Apartments and then Ridgeway on German in New Ulm, moving to Luther Memorial Home in Madelia in January 2001. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of New Ulm. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice. Dean Heimendinger, 84, of Lamberton, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Valley View Manor, Lamberton. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Walnut Grove City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton. He is survived by two sons, Gary Dean of Des Plaines, Ill. and Gene Lee of Spice Wood, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Gene Kieper of Stillwater, a special niece Dianne and her husband Arlin Anderson of Walnut Grove; a grandson; great nieces and nephews; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and wife Grace of Pardeeville, Wis., and Ray and Ethel of Minneapolis. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gladys in 1980 and a brother Russell Jr. He was born Feb. 3, 1917 to Russell and Mayme Heimendinger in South Dakota. He graduated from Fulda High School in 1934 and farmed in the Fulda area for a number of years. He married Stella Maciolek and in 1945 started working for Interstate Power in Fulda. He moved to Minneapolis and worked at the Schweigert meat packing plant. He married Gladys Reese on Nov. 30, 1973 in Walnut Grove. The couple retired and moved to Lamberton in 1978. He was a member of the Fides Masonic Lodge 246, the Eastern Star and a Boy Scout leader. Jane Price, 48, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001. Services were Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Kaukauna, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by her mother Dorothy of Kimberly, Wis., six brothers, three sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, a huge Christian family, many colleagues and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and a nephew. She was born Jan. 21, 1953 in Appleton, Wis. to Dorothy (Schroeder) and the late Raymond A. Price. She graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, in 1976. She received her masters from Southwest State University in 1997. She was assigned to Immanuel Lutheran School, Hadar, Neb., in 1976. She also taught at St. John's Lutheran School, Redwood Falls, which she helped establish. Her present call was to Trinity Lutheran School, Kaukauna, where she has been teaching the last five years. Louie Ricke, 95, of Morgan, died on Friday, April 27, 2001 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Morgan with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan and Monday at the church, one hour prior to the service. A parish prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife Rose; two children; Leroy Wilhelmi and wife Marcella of Morgan and Paul Wilhelmi and wife Lucille of Sleepy Eye; 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two sisters, Louise Butt of Sleepy Eye and Eleanor Jemmings of Morgan. He was preceded in death by a son, Francis; a daughter, Patricia; four brothers; and three sisters. He was born on Jan. 29, 1906 in St. Leo to Frank and Johanna (Siemer) Ricke. The family to moved Morgan and he attended St. Michael's Schools. He married Rose (Zweber) Wilhelmi on Feb. 9, 1932 at New Market. He did road work at Belle Plaine before moving to Morgan in 1935. He farmed with his dad and then on his own. In 1971 Louie and Rose retired from farming and moved to Morgan. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
