Lawrence Ludtke, 81, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at the Redwood Falls Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in Larimore, N.D. at 1 p.m. Thursday, with military honors. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today, and continues 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls and at the church, one hour prior to the service. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Redwood Falls; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Daniel Gingerich of Lebanon, Ohio; son, Spencer of St. Paul; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Peggy Ludtke of Stillwater; seven grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Gutting Olson of Northwood, N.D., brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Frances Stover of Larimore, N.D.. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dwaine and Kenneth; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Helen Stover. He was born Jan. 27, 1919, in Bartlett, N.D., to Edward and Charlotte (Reynolds) Ludtke. He graduated from Lakota High School in 1940. He attended North Dakota State University. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in August 1942. He was stationed at Fort Snelling and Fort Hood. He served as a tank destroyer with the 7th Armored Division on the Western Front. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart. He graduated from NDSU in 1948 with a B.S. in agriculture economics. He married Carol Stover on June 25, 1947, in Larimore, N.D. He taught classes in the Veterans Farm Management Program in Lisbon and Larimore, N.D. He started ag departments in Middle River, Minn., in 1953 and Morgan in 1957. He taught at Morgan Public School until 1974, where he was also FFA adviser and area vocational ag instructor. He taught the Veterans Ag Management Program at Sleepy Eye Public School from 1974 to in 1981, when he retired. He entered Wood Dale Home in Redwood Falls in 1997. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. He belonged to the Lions Club and was district governor in 1985-1986. He belonged to the VFW and American Legion. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Bennie Hahn, 74, of Gaylord, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Glencoe Area Health Center. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Gaylord, with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord; and at the church Thursday, one hour before the service. He is survived by his sister, Bertha Hacker of New Auburn; sister-in-law Eleanora Hahn of Gaylord; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Melvin; three siblings in infancy; and brother-in-law, Otto Hacker. He was born May 23, 1925, in Sibley Township to Albert and Amelia (Ayer) Hahn. He did farm work for Alvin Blaser for 45 years. He also owned his own trucking firm, he hauled gravel and had a milk rout. He retired in 1993. He belonged to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gaylord. Merle R. Siegfired, 81, of Redwood Falls died Monday, May 1, 2000, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. Arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Service, Redwood Falls. Esther Sommer, 87, of Winthrop, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Winthrop Good Samaritan Center. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop, with burial in the city cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the church, and will continue one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel, Winthrop, is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by sister-in-law, Hattie Becke of Gaylord; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; and brothers, Louis and Walter Brede. She was born March 8, 1913, in McLeod County, to Max and Emma (Wagner) Brede. She married Alvin Norman Sommer on Oct. 2, 1936, in New Auburn. They farmed in Transit Township, Sibley County until 1987, when they moved into Winthrop. She was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, and a current member of Zion Lutheran Church, Winthrop. Ruth G. Dirks: Graveside services are 3 p.m. Saturday in New Ulm City Cemetery for Ruth G. Dirks. She was born Nov. 18, 1909, in New Ulm to Conrad and Eleonora (Krienke) Dirks. She died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Good Samaritan Center, Stillwater. Her obituary was published in January. Darrell Pederson, 59, of Minneapolis, formerly of Lamberton, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis. Services are 3 p.m. today at Highwater Lutheran Church, Lamberton, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 2-3 p.m. today at the church. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home, Lamberton. He is survived by daughters, Pam and husband Errol Shirer of Chehalis, Wash., Julie and husband Clyde Ediger of Kasson, and Dawn and husband Keith Oslund of Blomkest; sons, Scott of Kent, Wash., Steven and wife Lori Mahr of New London, Michael and wife Melissa of Savage, Rodney and wife Lisa of Elk River, and Christopher of Willmar; brothers, Alvin of Lamberton, Jim and wife Jackie of Plainview, Ken and wife Becky of Willmar, David and wife Nancy of Fairmont, Richard and wife Mary of Blomkest, Roger and wife JoClair of New York Mills, and Phillip of Watertown, S.D.; sisters, Shirley and husband Lloyd Knakmuhs of Lamberton, and Marie and husband Harold Hutchinson of Revere; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was born Aug. 24, 1940, in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, to Oscar and Anna (Hoffrogge) Pederson. He attended school in Lamberton. He married Karen Unzeitig. He married Connie Hanson on Oct. 22, 1960, in South Dakota. They moved to the Minneapolis area in 1961. He worked for Swedish Hospital, Minneapolis, and drove taxi. In 1969, they moved to New London. He worked for Norling Brothers Silo, Lake Lillian. He later worked for Hanson Silo Company, until returning to Minneapolis.
