Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton with burial in the Appleton City Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m.today at Vaala Funeral Home in Appleton and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday morning. He is survived by his wife Florence; sons, Bradley of Little Falls, Bruce and wife Sandy of White Bear Lake, Brian and his wife Cindy of New Ulm; daughters; Sheila of Willmar and Julie of Holloway; six grandchildren; brother, Myron and his wife Phyllis of Benson; sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Lamberton, Ardy and her husband Pete Pederson of Storden, and Arlene and her husband Howard Johnson of New Brighton; nieces, nephews and several other relatives. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, Howard. He was born Sept. 28, 1929 in Amo Township, Cottonwood County, to Peter S. and Agnes L. (Thompson) Jensen. The family moved to the current family farm near Holloway in 1948. He farmed with his father until 1953 when he entered the U.S. Army for two years of service. He returned to Holloway in 1955. On July 5, 1958 he married to Frances Johnson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Denson. He farmed near Holloway until 1990 when he began working for Western Consolidated Cooperative. Ruth Gross, 75, of Roseville and formerly of St. James, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at the Shalom Home in St. Paul. Arrangements are pending with the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Grace Elizabeth Roering, was born stillborn to Jason and Emily Roering of North Mankato on Monday, June 14, 1999 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Lauren Nicole Schaper, infant daughter of Blake and Patricia Schaper, of 1448 Hilltop, New Ulm was stillborn Sunday, June 13, 1999 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the City Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. She is survived by her parents, Blake and Patricia (Hoyer) Schaper of New Ulm; grandparents, Margaret Hoyer of New Ulm and Dorothy and Herb Schaper of New Ulm; great-grandmother Amalia Neisen, a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye; stepgrandfather Walter Franke of State Center, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Pam Schneider of Cottage Grove, Blair Schaper of New Berlin, Wis., and Brad and Laura Schaper of La Crosse, Wis.; and cousins Jason, Matthew, and Aaron. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Gerald Hoyer and by other great grandparents. Linwood Francis "Frank" Deree, 80 of Sleepy Eye, who died Monday, June 14, 1999, in Sleepy Eye, is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Gary Thoms of Sleepy Eye. Their last name was misspelled in the obituary published in The Journal on Tuesday. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye with burial in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-11 a.m Thursday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Military rites will be conducted by Sleepy Eye Honor Guard and Bravo Co. 367th Engineering Battalion of Mankato. Deloris Berberich, 81, of Minnetonka and formerly of Springfield, died Tuesday, July 15, 1999, at North Memorial Hospice Unit in Robbinsdale. Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield.
