Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Albion Lutheran Church rural St. James with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Pease Funeral Home, St. James and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service. She is survived by daughters, Phyllis Johnson and her husband Larry of Alexandria, Colleen Kibbon and her husband, Ron of Hampton, Neb.; sons, Dennis and his wife, Mary Anne of Jackson, Kenneth and his wife, Fay of Hayward, Wis., Richard and his wife, Becky of Clear Lake, Iowa and Howard and his wife Sharon of St. James; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Odegard of St. James; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) Beckius of Hanska and Clarabelle Beckius of St. James. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 5, 2000; brothers, Ray and Jack; and a sister, Arlene. She was born on Nov. 29, 1916, to Nick and Rose (Dearth) Beckius at Comfrey. She attended school in Comfrey. She married Hjalmer Finstad on April 25, 1936, in Springfield. They farmed in Albin Township, Brown County, for 60 years. She was an active member of the Albion Lutheran Church. She lived on the farm until March when she moved to the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Darold W. "Kid" Hansen, 85, of Walnut Grove died Tuesday June 19, 2001, at the Tracy Hospital. Services are 10:30 a..m. Thursday at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove with burial in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Jacobson Funeral Home in Walnut Grove with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born April 30,1916, in Lucan to William and Minnie Haag Hansen. He attended country school He worked as a farm hand until he entered the U.S.Army and served from February 1942 to October of 1945. He was employed by the Redwood County Highway Department and the Feed Mill in Lucan until 1947. He married Ella Hoffrogge on March 30, 1947, at Revere Lutheran Church. They lived in Lucan for one year and moved to the Walnut Grove area in 1948 and farmed. He worked for the Masterson Elevator and Botsford Lumber Yard in Walnut Grove. He worked for the A.S.C.S. Office and federal crop insurance for 20 years and he was also an assessor for Redwood County. He was an active member of English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. He was a member of Lions Club and the American Legion of Walnut Grove. He is survived by his wife, Ella of Walnut Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and wife Signe of Walnut Grove; daughter and son-in-law, Ronald (Karla) Beens of Walnut Grove; six grandchildren; sisters, Verna Ness of Redwood Falls, Donna Munson of Walnut Grove; brother, Melvin Hansen of Kansas; sister-in-law, Faye Hansen of Walnut Grove; stepsisters, Delores Sammons of Walnut Grove, Caroline Danielowski of Revere; stepbrother, Devon Rue of California. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Doris Mayer, 82, of Redwood Falls, died Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at her home. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens, rural Redwood Falls. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. She was born on May 15, 1919, in Chasely, N.D., to Andrew and Ruby (Dwelle) Knodel. She graduated from Hurdsfield, N.D. High School in 1936. On Oct. 6, 1938 she married Carl Mayer at Jamestown, N.D. They lived in Chasely, N.D. where they operated a gas station, They then moved to Hurdsfield, N.D., where they went into the grocery business. In 1948 they moved to Redwood Falls and they worked at Hornbacher's. Grocery. She worked as activity director at the Redwood County Nursing Home and Wood Dale Nursing Home for 13 years retiring in 1989. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church including Sunday School teacher, serving all offices of Missions, circle chairman, release time teacher and served on the memorial committee. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary serving as chairperson for six years. She also served as a volunteer at the Redwood County Clothing Center and the hospital gift shop. She is survived by her husband Carl; children, Garwood Mayer and his wife Pat of Williamsburg, Iowa and Candy Reinert of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Julayane Mayer of Wadena; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Irene Whiteman and her husband Donnie of Flasher, N.D., Joyce Ekness of Marshall, Opal Seibel and her husband Chet of Minot, N.D., Don Knodel and his wife Audrey of Seattle, Wash., Alvin Knodel and his wife Ruby of Auburn, Wash., and Andrew Knodel and wife Audrey of Escindino, Calif. She was preceded in death by an infant son at birth; son, Larry; and brothers, Durwurd, Merle, Earl; and sister, Connie Knodel. Jerald Lupke , 62, of St. James, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at St. James Health Services Hospital. Services are 11 a.m., Friday at First Lutheran Church in St. James with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-9 a.m. Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James, and at the church Friday one hour prior to the service. He is survived by his wife, Arelene; son, Troy and his wife Shirley, of Foreston; daughter, Tamara and David Palm of Sleepy Eye; grandchildren, Kristi, Travis, and Amanda Lupke, Brandon and Lucas Palm; mother, Edna of Truman; sisters, Janis Olson of Truman, Carmen and Alyn Angus of Farmington, Arlys Hoffmeyer of Prior Lake, Cheryl and Ralph Otte of Eagan, Deborah Hotzler of Lake Crystal; brother, Lyle and his wife Sonja of Truman; sister-in-law, Sue Lupke of Truman and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his father, Gustav, and one brother Darrel. He was born on Aug. 8, 1938, to Gustav and Edna (Mausling) Lupke and grew up in rural South Branch Township. He graduated from Truman High School in 1956. He worked at Same's Electric anad for a local lumberyard. He married Arlene Larson on Oct. 8, 1960, in St. James. He worked for the United Parcel Service for 35 years, retiring on Jan. 31, 2000. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Swinging Saints Square Dance Club. He also was a member of the St. James Lions Club and was president of the AAL Branch 838.
