Services will be11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the Firle Funeral Home in Hanska and one hour prior to service at the church. Survivors include daughters, Jean Knudson and husband Loren of Comfrey, and Sheila Wilness and husband Don of Brooklyn Park; a son, Ken Broste and wife Mona, of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; a brother, George Mosenden and his wife Gervaise of Hanska; sisters-in-law, Minnie Broste of Hanska, Maurine Broste of St. James, and Joan Mosenden of Hanska; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister. She was born Dec. 6, 1918, in New Ulm to J.I. and Hannah (Hanson) Mosenden. She attended New Ulm public schools, and was a graduate of New Ulm High School. She married Sidney Broste on Jan. 20, 1944, at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church parsonage in rural Hanska. They farmed in Lake Hanska Township until moving into Hanska in 1958. She worked at Kraft Foods in New Ulm for approximately 20 years. Her husband died in 1984. She later lived in New Ulm and Sleepy Eye. She had been a resident of the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia for the past year. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, and was active in the Sons of Norway, and a member of Gudbransdal Lag. Margaret "Marge" L.. Johnson, 83, of Springfield, died Friday, June 18, 1999 at the Springfield Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Springfield with burial in the Lakeview Cemetery, Windom. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. She is survived by her husband, Ray Johnson of Springfield; daughters, Shirley and husband David Halvorson of Wilmington, N.C., Sandy and husband Stan Peichel of Anoka, and Kay and husband Richard Bellig of Bettendorf, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and a brother Clifford and wife Bonnie Simpson of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vincent; two grandchildren; Steven Bellig and Beth Halvorson Flack; brothers, Lester and Robert, and a sister, Virginia. She was born May 4, 1916 in Clare, Iowa, to Ray and Grace (Spooner) Simpson. She grew up and attended school in Clare. She married Vincent Cervene in 1931 in Iowa. The couple made their home in Iowa for a few years before moving to Redwood Falls, where she worked at the Paris Dress Shop for many years. Vincent died in 1951. She married Ray Johnson on Feb. 2, 1953, in Redwood Falls and the couple made their home in Springfield. She worked for Woehrmann Cafe, the Springfield Public School as a cook, and drove the kindergarten school bus. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir, altar guild, and circle. Ernst E. Laabs, Sr., 76 of Green Isle, died Friday, June 18, 1999 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Isle, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington and will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Laabs of Green Isle; daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon and Howard Schuette of Green Isle, and Diana and David Grove of Woodbridge, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Ernst, Jr. and Diane Laabs of Green Isle; a sister, Flora Winter of Green Isle, and four grandchildren: Kent and Julie Schuette, Kara Schuette and special friend Roger Moerke, Elizabeth Grove, and Jonathon Grove. He was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Billingham, Minn., to William and Lydia (Buck) Laabs. On April 22, 1945, he married Dorothy TEsch at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Parsonage in Green Isle. He farmed in Green Isle most of his life and also worked at Farm Hand in Green Isle for 25 years, from 1957 to the early 1980s. Bernadine K. Murphy, 86, of Madelia died Friday, June 18, 1999, at the Madelia Community Hospital. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Madelia. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia, with a Rosary at 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., both today at the funeral home. She is survived by sons and their wives Philip J. and Rosemary of Madelia and John P. and Alece Cox of Tacoma, Wash.; daughters, Rosemary Murphy of Oakland, Calif., Suzanne Corressell and husband Leon of Evansville, Ill., and Sheila Murphy of Billings, Mont.; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, three sisters, two brothers and an infant daughter. She was born Dec. 22, 1912 in Good Thunder to John and Mary (Shanahan) McCarthy. She grew up in Good Thunder and graduated from high school there in 1930. She attended Mankato Teachers College and received her teaching certificate in 1932. She taught in rural Ceresco Township until 1938 when she married Roy E. Murphy on Sept. 3 at Good Thunder. They farmed on the family farm in rural Madelia for many years. After Roy died in December 1980 she remained on the farm until moving into Madelia in 1994. She had been a resident of Luther Memorial Home since August 1995. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and was active with the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Tuesday Club. Edda Way, 84, of Wabasso, died Friday, June 18, 1999 at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. The Nelson Funeral Home of Redwood Falls is handling the arrangements. She is survived by a son, Robert and wife Lynndene of Alexandria; daughters, Donna Painter and husband Raymond of New Munich and Patty Bukowksi of Cottonwood; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Ellefson of Sartell and Clara Davis of Redwood Falls; and brothers; Samuel Kruger of California and Theodore L. Kruger and wife Rosemary of St. Cloud. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Way, three brothers and one sister. She was born March 26, 1915 in Staples, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Mochoff) Kruger. She moved with her family to the Redwood Falls area during her youth and attended Redwood Falls schools. She married Loren Way on Nov. 20, 1939 in Redwood Falls. They farmed in Redwood County, retiring in 1972. After retirement the couple moved to Wabasso. Loren died on Dec. 7, 1990. She entered the Valley View Manor on May 21, 1999. Evelyn Lindmeier, 81, of Springfield, died Saturday, June 19, 1999 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield. Arrangements are pending with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
