   Rev. Joanne M. Benson, 49, of Rochester died Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
   A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Rochester Covenant Church in Rochester. Burial of the ashes will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Winthrop City Cemetery.
   Visitation without reviewal will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Ranfranz Funeral Home in Rochester.
   She is survived by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law Keith and Corrine of Robbinsdale, Kevin and Becky of Blue Earth; four grandchildren; sister Karen Benson living in the Central African Republic.
   She is preceeded in death by her grandparents and a nephew.
   She was born Feb. 26, 1950 in New Ulm to Wallace and Marjorie (Peterson) Benson of Winthrop. She graduated high school in Winthrop, Mankato State University in 1972 then taught elementary school in Winthrop. She attended Northpark Theological Seminary and graduated from Yale Divinity School and was ordained in 1987. She served as Chaplain at Cromwell Conneticut Children's home and was also pastor at Cromwell Covenant Church. From 1991 till her retirement in 1998 she served as pastor at Rochester Covenant Church. She was involved in many activities including: serving for many years as secretary for Habitat for Humanity; she was Chair of the Board of Congregational Services of the Covenant Church, was a consultant for Zumbro District from 1991 until her death, Chair of the Clergy Care Committee of the Northwestern Conference, and served as secretary for the Ministerium of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
    Family prefers memorials to Habitat for Humanity, Cromwell Children's Home in Cromwell, Conn,. Rochester Covenant Church in care of Joni Benson Camp Scholarship Fund.

   Gretchen Huebsch, 81, of St. James died Thursday, July 15, 1999 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake.
   Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew's Ev. Lutheran Church in Butterfield with burial in the Decoria Cemetery in Decoria Township, Blue Earth County.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-8 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and one hour prior to the service at the church.

   Father Urban Neudecker, 81, of Sherburn died July 15, 1999 at St. Elizabeth Care Center in Wabasha.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at St.Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn. There will be a Holy Rosary at 5 p.m. and a Scriptural Wake at 7 p.m. at the church. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to Mass on Monday.
   He is survived by a sister-in-law, Lorraine Neudecker of Fresno, Calif.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
   He was preceeded in death by his parents, three brothers, Fr. Leo Neudecker, Mark and Joseph, and a sister Ann Brossard.
   He was born May 24, 1918 to Michael and Dora (Altermatt) Neudecker in Albert Lea. He was a 1935 graduate of Albert Lea High School where he was class president. He attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis for two years before going to St. John's University at Collegeville. He then spent six years at St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul and was ordained a Priest in 1945. He served several parishes throughout the Diocese of Winona. His first assignment was at Sacred Heart of Owatonna in 1945, to to Queen of Angels in Austin in 1948 where he taught Christian Ideals and pricipals. Father then served St. Rose's in Avoca and then St.Mary's in Geneve/St. Aiden's in Ellendale in 1951. In 1961 he served for a brief time as chaplain at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. In 1962 he served at St. Luke's in Sherburn, then to St. James Catholic Church in St. James in 1970. In 1970 he served Sacred Heart in Heron Lake and later in 1983 served the Church of the Good Shepherd in Jackson until his retirement in 1994. His retirement was spent in the Rectory at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn. He served as the Boy Scout Chaplain for the southwest Minnesota area and as Moderator for the Winona Diocesan Council of the Catholic Women from 1961-95. He also served as Rural Life Advisor in 1945.
