   Adeline Gladue, 73, Detroit Lakes, died Friday, July 20, 2001 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
   Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 10:30 am Monday, July 23, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
   Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the funeral service.
   She is survived by sons: Aloysius Kunz, Ambrose Kunz, Paul Kunz and his wife Laura, and Francis "Fritz" Kunz, all of Detroit Lakes, Raymond Kunz and his wife Sue of Frazee; daughters: Barbara Gunderson and her husband Gary, Darlene Krause, Rita DeGroat and her husband Verlyn, all of Detroit Lakes, Patricia Thorson and her husband Dennis of Ryegate, Mont., and Mary Kunz of Frazee; brothers: Raymond Braun of Detroit Lakes, Charles Brown and his wife Marjean of Mantorville and August Braun Jr. and his wife Cleo of Rochester; a sister, Felicia Mohn of Detroit Lakes; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward in 1994; sons, Randy and Richard Kunz, daughters, Beatrice Beyer and Maria Kunz; a son-in-law, Roger Beyer; two grandchildren, and a brother, Art Braun.
   Adeline Mathilda Braun was born Nov. 1, 1927 to August and Mathilda (MiedI) Braun in Sleepy Eye. As a young girl she moved to Callaway, where she attended school. On April 3, 1945 she married Edward Kunz in Callaway. Following marriage they lived in Callaway and Mahnomen. In 1952 they moved to Detroit Lakes where she worked as a cook for the Erie 34 Club, Eric Junior, Fireside, Bunnell's Edgewater, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. She has been a resident of Emmanuel Nursing Home for the past two years.
   She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Ladies Aid and was active in the Detroit Lakes VFW Auxiliary.

   Cora A. Lemberg, 92, of LeSueur, formerly of Arlington, died Thursday, July 18, 2001, at Gardenview Nursing Home in LeSueur.
   Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church, LeSueur, with burial in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
   Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Monday at the church. Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
   She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Louise Reilly-Bauleke and Sheldon Bauleke of Elysian; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Lemberg in April 1984; a brother, Ralph Warnke, a granddaughter, Kari Reilly, and a son-in-law, John Reilly.
   She was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Gaylord to Herman and Clara (Mauer) Warnke. She graduated from Gaylord High School and worked at the Sibley County Courthouse until she married Ernest Lemberg on Dec. 17, 1938 in Gaylord. They moved to Arlington, where they owned and operated the Arlington Bakery for 30 years. When they retired they moved to Grey Eagle. When Ernest died Cora lived in Elysian. Waterville and LeCenter before moving to Gardenview Nursing Home in LeSueur in February. While in Arlington, she was a member of the Arlington Hospital Auxiliary.

   James Palmer, 71, of Fairfax, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at his rural Fairfax home.
   Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery in Cairo Township.
   Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax and will continue on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
   Hauser-Hantge Funeral Home in Fairfax is handling arrangements.
   He is survived by his wife, Ettie Palmer of Fairfax; sons, Steve Palmer and his wife, Tracie of Fairfax, Tom Palmer and his wife, Denise of Fairfax, Mike Palmer and his wife, Jolene of Fairfax, Dan Palmer and his wife, Janelle, of Fairfax; a daughter, Mary O'Keefe and her husband, Kevin of Coon Rapids; step-children, Dallas Wiethoff of Japan, Kent Wiethoff and his wife, Brenda of Fairfax, Dixie Kodet and her husband, Mark of Fairfax; 16 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Kiecker and her husband, Stan of Post Falls, Idaho, Grace Steffl and her husband, Leo of Sleepy Eye, Margery Schmidt and her husband, Dick of Maplewood, Mildred Volk and her husband, Ed of Burnsville; a brother, John Palmer and his wife, Elaine of Fairfax; and many other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
   James was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gertrude Palmer; his first wife, Bernice Palmer; sons, Douglas Palmer and Patrick Palmer; and a sister, Mary Palmer.
   James Harold Palmer was born Sept. 6, 1929, in New Ulm to Harold and Gertrude (Wendinger) Palmer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. He attended St. Andrew's Catholic Grade School and graduated from the University of Minnesota Agricultural School.
   On June 16, 1953, James married Bernice Dummer in St. George. James was a lifelong farmer. James and Bernice were married 31 years before Bernice died on July 23, 1984.
   James married Ettie Wiethoff on Sept. 17, 1991, at the River Valley Christian Church in New Ulm.
   James was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
   James was one of the early patients of Sister Kinney Institute when he had polio at the age of 13 years. He was diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer in February 1993.

   Vita L. Schmidt, 83, of Sleepy Eye, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at her home.
   Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Sleepy Eye.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home.
   She is survived by two daughters, Mary and husband Jim Sommerfeld of Sleepy Eye, and Joann Schmidt of Sleepy Eye; sons, Jim and wife LuAnn Schmidt of Burnsville, and Chuck and wife Mary Schmidt of Lakeville; five grandchildren; a sister, Flavia and husband Dennis Larson of Sleepy Eye, and a brother, Medard Bertrand of Kansas City, Mo.
   She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
   Vita was born May 3, 1918 in Sleepy Eye to Lucian J. and Ann (Schueller) Bertrand. She grew up in Sleepy Eye, attending and graduating from St. Mary's High School in 1938. On July 14, 1945, she married Ervin (Bud) Schmidt in Sleepy Eye. Vita was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member of the C.C.W., Christian Mothers Society and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. Vita and Bud owned and operated the Sleepy Eye Tile Yard, in which Vita was very supportive. She was one of the early women's semi truck drivers. For a period of time Vita worked at 3M in New Ulm, retiring from there in 1983.

   Maxine R. Day, 91, of Lake City, died Friday, July 20, 2001, at the Lake City Nursing Home-Mayo Health System.
   Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Mahn Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City, with burial at 3 p.m. in at the Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato.
   Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
   She is survived by a son, Fred and wife Karen Day of Lake City; three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband aone a sister, Marion Schneider.
   She was born May 24, 1910, in Denver, Colo., to Helmuth and Mae (Fields) Seewald. The family later moved to St. Clair, Minn. She graduated from St. Clair High School and attended Mankato Business College.
   She married Allyn H. Day on March 6, 1937, in St. Clair. After their marriage they lived in many different towns in the Midwest due to Allyn's job with the railroad.
   Allyn died in October 1987, and Maxine moved to Lake City in August 2000. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

   Alice Heckler, 96 of Morgan died Saturday, July
   21, 2001 at the Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan.
   Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Morgan, with burial in the Morgan City Cemetery.
   Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan and will continue for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Tuesday.
