   Irene Carter , 95, of Gibbon, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
   Funeral service will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 24, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Wednesday.
   Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is in charge of the arrangements.
   Irene is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Donavon Meyer of Fremont, California, Kathleen and Milo Holland of Butterfield, Beverly De Wall of San Diego, California, Patricia and Dennis Lenz of Minnetonka and Judith and Kay Kramer of Gibbon; a son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Lenora Carter of St. James; seventy-five grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Bertha Carter of Rochester.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.H. Carter in 1968; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
   Irene was born March 10, 1907, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Edward and Clara (Helgeson) Ausen. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1925. On April 3, 1926, she married Clinton Howard Carter in Albert Lea. After marriage they lived in various places while her husband worked for the railroad. They lived in Ormsby for twenty-five years, later moving to Lake Mills, Iowa. They moved to Gibbon in 1957 where she was a homemaker, and worked for Red Owl Grocery Store in Gibbon. She did seasonal work for the Green Giant Packing Plant, and worked for many years at Hands in Winthrop. She had been a resident of the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax since August 2001 and a resident of the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Home in St. James since January 2002. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon and the Ladies Aid at church.

   Lorraine D. Klein, 72, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, July 20, 2002 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
   Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
