Bjerke, 77, of Mankato, died at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital, Mankato, on Saturday, July 27, 2002. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Reverend Charles E. Ortloff officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home and continue at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to; Habitat for Humanity of South Central Minnesota, Heart Research at the Mayo Foundation or the Leukemia Society of America. Loren is survived by his wife, Mary, of Mankato, sons; Steve and wife Christine of Madison Lake, Carl and wife Pam of Prior Lake, daughters: Susan Date and husband Gary of New Ulm, Nancy Penn and husband Jack of St. Peter, Sandra Martin and husband John of Baltimore, MD, Emily Lloyd and husband Mike of Prior Lake, a brother, Willard and his wife Rosalie of Holmen, Wis.; sisters, Hilda Eng and husband Merle of Flandreau, S.D., Helen Brudahl of Holmen, Wis., a sister-in-law, Edna Bjerke of St. Paul, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Loren was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Clare Township, Moody County, near Flandreau, S.D. to Carl O. and Gina (Paulson) Bjerke. He served in the United States Air Force during WW II. Cleona L. Bliss, 77, of Seaforth, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at her daughter's home in Seaforth. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Seaforth, with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Seaforth, and on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church. Redwood Valley Funeral Chapel in Redwood Falls is handling arrangements. She is survived by her children, Bette Bliss of Seaforth and Duane Bliss of Redwood Falls; a brother, Ervin Kaseforth of Springfield; and sisters, Viola Johanssen of Montevideo, Elizabeth Hansen of Spicer, and Lillian Schhiller of New Ulm. She was born Oct. 11, 1924, on the family farm south of Springfield to John and Ottilie (Mueller) Kaseforth. J. Glen Leopold, 75, of Sanborn, died July 26, 2002 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednes-day, July 31, at United Methodist Church in Lamberton, with interment in the Sanborn City Cemetery, Sanborn. Pastor Arthur Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-9 a.m. Wednesday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue in the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Sanborn American Legion-Colburn Post #286. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Sanborn; daughters, Glenda Peterson of Redding, CA, and Debra and husband Russ Reiner of Palo Cedro, CA; four grandchildren, Melisa and Lydia Reiner and Ryan and Samantha Peterson; a brother, Bruce Leopold of Springfield, and a sister, Verna Armbruster of Comfrey. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlotte Springer; and brothers, Edwin, Ewald, Gerhardt, Leon and Marvin Leopold. Glen was born August 16, 1926 in Sanborn, the eighth of nine children, to John 0. and Hulda (Ringle) Leopold. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, attending Zion Lutheran School to the 8th grade. After graduating from Sanborn High School in 1944, Glen enlisted in the U. S. Navy, attending gunners mate school and boot camp at Camp Hill Faragut Naval Base in Idaho. During his time in the Navy, Glen served aboard the L.S.T. 775 in the South Pacific. Following discharge, he attended Mankato State College for a short time, after which he entered the managers training program of a large grocery chain. On January 9, 1948 he married Mary Gluth Olson at the United Methodist Church in Morgan. Glen started working as sales representative for Woodman Accident and Life Insurance Company, leaving that position in 1949 to join the Trojan Seed Company. Following his promotion to division manager, they moved to Aberdeen, S.D., later being transferred to Marshall to cover the S.W. Minnesota Division. Glen and Mary returned to Sanborn, purchasing the City Cafe in 1953, later selling it in 1954 to join the Moorman Manufacturing Company. Glen became District manager for Cottonwood and Brown Counties, and was promoted to State Sales Manager in 1961, serving in that capacity until retirement in 1988. He also worked selling for Reiner Real Estate after his official retirement from Cottonwood and Brown counties. Glen was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Sanborn, serving as Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Lay Leader. He served on the Sanborn School Board for 13 years, six of them as chairman, and was a member and Past Master of Fides Masonic Lodge #246 of Sanborn, a charter member of the Sanborn Community Development Company, member and past commander of Colburn American Legion Post #286 of Sanborn, and co-founder of the Sanborn Farmers Health & Golf Club. Glen was an avid golfer, and enjoyed fishing, high school sports and was very young at heart, living life to the fullest. Alfred H. Schenk, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Sanborn, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, with burial in the Sanborn City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the St. John's Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Arrangements are being handeld by Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. A complete obituary will be published in The Journal on Tuesday. Rosemary B. Zupfer, 70, of North Mankato, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, with burial in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mankato Mortuary in Mankato, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. She is survived by her husband, Curtis J. Zupfer of North Mankato; sons, Steven Zupfer of Atlanta, Ga., and Gregory Zupfer of Bloomington; daughters, Kathryn Rogness of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jane Hermann of Woodbury, Patricia Zupfer of Savage, Cynthia Worthington of Toledo, Ohio, and Lisa Howe of Burnsville; brothers, Joseph Wech of Lakeville, and Richard Wech of New Ulm; sisters, Dorothy Christian of New Ulm, and Donna Forstner of Gibbon; and eight grandchildren. She was born June 25, 1932, in New Ulm to Clarence and Mary (Fleck) Wech.
