Philip Ahlness, 84, of Hanska, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 4, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church, rural Hanska, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Schmucker Funeral Service in Hanska, and one hour prior to services at the church. A complete obituary will appear in the next edition of The Journal.
Harry Anderson, 87, of Lake Preston, rural Buffalo Lake, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, August 3, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Saturday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Stewart, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
Harry is survived by his wife Julia Anderson of Lake Preston, rural Buffalo Lake; daughters, Joyce Anderson of Buffalo Lake and Carol Forcier of Buffalo Lake; two grandchildren; and sisters Gladys Carlson of Atkin, Viola Green of Willmar, and Margaret Ahl of Hector.
Harry Gustaf Adolph Anderson was born June 12,1916, at the Anderson home farm in Preston Lake Township, the son of Herman and Elin (Rost) Anderson.
Mary F. Fluegge, 54, of rural New Ulm died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Brighton Township, Nicollet County.
Visitation will be 4 - 9 p.m. Friday and 7:30 - 9:30 a.m.Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary is survived by her husband, Lynn Fluegge of rural New Ulm; mother, Eleanore Grossmann of Searles; daughter, Lisa Fluegge of Los Angeles, California; sons and daughter-in-law, Nathan Fluegge of Chanhassen and Dean and Kenda Fluegge of St. Charles; grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon and Tyler; sisters and brother-in-law, Margie and Paul Hoffman of rural New Ulm, and Joyce Kuck of Mankato; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Ione Grossmann and Chuck and Barb Grossmann all of rural Hanska. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her father, Willard Grossmann on August 26, 1998.
Mary was born December 7, 1948 in New Ulm to Willard and Eleanore (Drexler) Grossmann. She attended New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and was a 1966 graduate of Cathedral High School. After graduation she worked for the Citizen's Bank in New Ulm. She married Lynn Fluegge on October 2, 1971 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. After marriage they moved to North Mankato where she worked for Northwest Bank. They moved to Lafayette Township, Nicollet County in 1979 where she helped her husband operate a hog farm. She then worked as a dietary technician for the New Ulm Medical Center until the present time. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Home Extension and she volunteered her time at church and Turner Hall.
LaVon M. Goor, 74, of Mankato died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in St. James, with burial in Calvary Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
Maria 'Mary' Krueger, 94, formerly of Courtland, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2003 at the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland with burial in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
Maria is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Bonita Krueger of New Ulm, Larrys and Juanita Krueger of Bloomington; grandchildren, Kevin Krueger and his wife, Marge of Lake City, Gregory Krueger and his wife, Shannon of Tacoma, Washington, Scott Krueger and his wife, Terri of New Ulm, Lisa Krueger of Minnetrista, Mark Krueger and his wife, Janet of Courtland; and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Krueger on August 14, 1989; a stillborn son; two sisters; and five brothers.
She was born on January 26, 1909 in Courtland Township, Nicollet County to Theodore and Maria (Hulke) Precht. She married Frederick Krueger on February 16, 1927 at the home of her parents. After marriage they lived in Courtland. She wrote the Courtland News column for the Lafayette-Nicollet Ledger for over sixty years and also wrote articles for the St. Peter Herald and the New Ulm Journal from time to time. She worked as a Nicollet County Home Health Aid for over eleven years. She was a member of the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland and was a past member of the Ladies Aid at church. The family prefers memorials be given in lieu of flowers.
Jean L. Morris, 80 of Winthrop, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at the Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday, August 5, at 11 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Gaylord.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and will continue Tuesday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., at the Dalin Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop.
Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Tuesday.
Charles Leo Reding, 52, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of the Redwood Falls area, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at his home in Tucson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon Monday until the time of service at the church. Nelson-Martin Funeral Service in Redwood Falls is handling arrangements.
Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Reding of Redwood Falls; his wife, Betty of Tucson; daughters, Elizabeth Herman of Tucson and Amanda Reding of Tucson; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Reding of Howard Lake, Theresa Sandeen of Glenwood, Patria Simondet of Hutchinson, Gerald Reding of Willmar, Marie Ireland of Mankato, Dennis Reding of St. Paul Park, Randal Reding of Plymouth, and Jean Dott of Castle Rock Colo.
He was born April 12, 1951, in Sleepy Eye to Richard and Evelyn (Tauer) Reding.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974 at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.
Daniel 'Dan' Roegiers, 72, of 102 Third South Street in New Ulm died Monday, July 28, 2003 near Litchfield.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003 at the Swan Lake Lutheran Church, Brighton Township, Nicollet County with Pastor Garry Grunzke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 - 9 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
Dan is survived by his wife, Edna, of New Ulm; daughters, Kathy Roegiers of St. Petersburg, Florida, Chris Kocinski of Fridley, Gail Van Vliet and her husband, George, of Rancho Santa Fe, California, Deb Campbell and her husband, Tom, of Edina, Robin Johnson and her husband, Mark, of Minnetonka; sons, Bruce Roegiers of Atlanta, Georgia, Brian Roegiers and his wife, Dawn, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Brad Roegiers and his wife, Sara, of Bloomington, Brett Roegiers and his wife, Cheri, of Farmington, Jesse Menton and his wife, Andrea, of Minnetonka; 18 grandchildren; a sister, Leona Johnson, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and by brothers, Vincent Roegiers and his wife, Ora, of Columbus, Georgia, and Eugene Roegiers and his wife, Lila, of Bloomington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and by sisters, Devonna Feit and Lucille Thu.
Dan Richard Roegiers, the son of Cyriel and Louise (DeMunch) Roegiers was born on August 21, 1930 in Jasper, MN He married Edna Gieseke on July 12, 1963. Dan had worked at Kraft Foods in New Ulm for seven years before purchasing a farm in Brighton Township, Nicollet County where he farmed for 35 years. While farming he also worked for OCCO Feed Company which was based out of Iowa and was also in the feeder pig business for several years. In 1993 they moved into New Ulm. Dan was a member of the Swan Lake Lutheran Church in Brighton Township, he loved to volunteer his time at local nursing homes, and was known around the area for playing Santa Claus to many children. He loved to fish, bowl, and take care of his flower garden, known as the "Riverside Gardens," which he established in 1999.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the McCrossan Boys Ranch in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
