Andrew J. Hofmeister, 78, of Marble, Minn., died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003 in his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marble. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel, Coleraine, and will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Survivors include his wife, Joyce; children, David (Sue) Hofmeister of Anoka, Wayne (Betty) Hofmeister of Marble, and Sandra (Tom) Mix of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jesse, Allison, and Autumn Hofmeister, and Kacey Mix; a sister; Elmira. Ubl of Owatonna, Minn., and a brother; Ralph (Audrey) Hofmeister of Bemidji, Minn. His parents, Edwin and Frances Hofmeister and a brother, Marvin Hofmeister preceded him in death. He was born May 8, 1925 in New Ulm to Edwin and Frances (Bauer) Hofmeister. He grew up and attended schools in New Ulm, and lived at Prairie Lake for five years prior to moving to Marble in 1965. Andrew and Joyce Schugel were married on Oct. 7, 1947 in New Ulm. Andrew had been an over-the-road truck driver, was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Marble, and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Laurence R. Kiecker, age 81, of Fairfax, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2003, in Fairfax. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Interment will be in the church cemetery in Cairo Township, Renville County. Visitation will be today from 4 8 PM and Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association. The Hauser-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Fairfax is handling the arrangements Laurence R. Kiecker was born on July 25, 1922, in New Ulm. He was the son of Anton and Sophie (Uetzmann) Kiecker. Laurence was united in marriage with Merelyn Deterling on Feb. 16, 1944, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township. Laurence farmed all his life, which he enjoyed until his death. Laurence was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Adelia Black, Helen Freyholtz and Alice Rossow; and brothers, Adolph, George, Edward, Hilmer and Harvey Kiecker. Laurence is survived by his: wife, Merelyn Kiecker of Fairfax; sons, Laurel (Donna) Kiecker of San Jose, CA and Greg (Maxine) Kiecker of Hector; grandchildren, Debra (Andrew) Trappen, Laurie (Eric) Lewis, Anna Kiecker, Christina (Scott) Clobes, Rebekah Kiecker and Marc Kiecker; great grandchildren, Aubrey Kiecker, Nicole Peterson and Nadine Clobes; a brother, Victor (Doreen) Kiecker of Fairfax; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Edward Kiecker of Fairfax, and Mrs. Pearl Kiecker of Fairfax, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Elizabeth Miller, 84, of Comfrey, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield. Arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Gert "Bud" Ulrich, 76, of Lafayette, died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, with Rev. Robert Olson officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Lafayette American Legion Post #300 will follow at the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to service at the church. Gert John "Bud" Ulrich, the son of John W. and Marie (Grussendorf) Ulrich, was born Sept. 26, 1926 in Nicollet County where he spent his youth on the family farm and attended "Fort Road University." Bud entered the United States Army in 1950. Following his honorable discharge in September 1952, he returned to the Lafayette area. He was united in marriage to Darlene Bradley on May 12, 1960 in New Ulm. Together, they farmed until 1965. Bud worked for Gehrke Construction, Griebel Implement, and more recently AMPI. Following his retirement, he continued to enjoy working outdoors, especially doing yard work and helping with farming. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Lafayette and American Legion Post #300 of Lafayette. Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Lafayette; daughter, Wanda Bastian and her husband Doug of Winona, Linda Geronime and her husband Jeff of Hawaii; sons, David Ulrich and his wife Carla of Mankato, Bradley Ulrich and his wife Holly of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Kimberlee, Andrew and Mary Bastian, Jeffery and Justin Geronime, Megan and Kyle Ulrich, Katelyn Ulrich; sister, Daisy Schreiner of Waconia; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by brothers, John Ulrich, Mike Ulrich, Werner Ulrich, Chester Ulrich; sisters, Bertha Martens and Myrtle Marquardt. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.
