Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Fairfax. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military rites. He is survived by his father, Otto John Clobes of Fairfax; his wife, Sharon of Aberdeen; daughters, Becki Lee (Lanny) Merkel of Marion, Iowa, Debra Ann Clobes of Aberdeen, Nicole Rose Clobes of Aberdeen and Amanda Lynn Clobes of Aberdeen; son, Michael of Aberdeen; grandson, Justin Merkel; sisters, Rosemary Cuff of Fairfax, Carol Julius of Spicer, and Jean Toren of Franklin; brothers Leo, Steve, Mark, Paul, Alan, and John, all of Fairfax and Tom of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his mother, one daughter and one brother. He was born Jan. 23, 1951, to Otto John and Lozina Katherine (Hahn) Clobes in New Ulm. He attended St. Andrew's Parochial School and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1969. He entered the U.S. Army on April 13, 1971. He served in Vietnam and received numerous medals and citations for his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Bars, the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Aircraft Crewman Badge. He received his honorable discharge Aug. 24, 1973 and returned to Fairfax. He married Sharon Drusch April 20, 1974 in Fairfax. He continued his military service in the National Guard until 1976. He was employed with the Fairfax Farmers Elevator for many years. In 1991 they moved to Aberdeen. He worked for the Cenex Land O Lakes Express Center and was the plant manager at the time of his death. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Knights of Columbus. Albert Stark, 75, of Buffalo Lake died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 at Hutchinson Area Health Care Center. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stewart and will continue one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Hughes Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Buffalo Lake; daughter, Nyla and husband Jerry Negen of Olivia; sons, Douglas and his wife Darla Stark of Gibbon, and Lee Stark and his friend Jolene of Buffalo Lake; three grandchildren and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Alvin, LuVern, Edward and Donald. He was born May 20, 1924 in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, to Edwin and Ella Star. He attended rural schools. On Dec. 23, 1961 he married Lillian Westphal. They lived in Buffalo Lake. He was a partner in Stark Brothers Construction until illness forced him into semi-retirement. On Aug. 17, he entered Hutchinson Area Health Care. Cecil Foster, 83, of rural Walnut Grove died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 at his home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove with burial in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Jacobson Funeral Home in Walnut Grove with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. He is survived by his son, Richard of Walnut Grove; daughters, Leora Flesner of Lamberton and Marie Dallenbach of Walnut Grove; daughter-in-law Annette Foster of Walnut Grove; 10 grandchildren; 21 grandchildren; brother, Darlow and his wife Amelia Foster of Walnut Grove; sister, Lorraine Giersdorf of Walnut Grove; sister-in-law, Veona Foster of Tracy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Allan; daughter, Bonnie Joyce in infancy; brother, Vernon; sister, Geneva Benedict; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. He was born at Laurens, Iowa to Vally LeRoy and Jessie Dagmar (Johnson) Foster. The family moved to a farm near Revere in 1920. He attended rural school near Revere. He married Clara Nora Shellum on Oct. 1, 1938 in the English Lutheran parsonage in Walnut Grove. They lived in the Revere area. In 1947 they moved to a farm north of Walnut Grove and in 1949 to a farm north of Walnut Grove. Clara died Jan. 16, 1992. He was a member of English Lutheran Church. Carl B. Kahler, 82, of Beaver Creek died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 at his home. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek with burial in the city cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Engebretson Funeral Home in Luverne; and one hour before services at the church. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jon Valerie of Las Cruces, N.M. and Alan and Virginia of Chester, S.D.; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Warren Brown of Tripp, S.D., Pat and Vern Guggisberg of Sanborn, and Pam and Doug Hanson of Beaver Creek; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister. He was preceded in death by his wife; and a brother Norman. He was born in Beaver Creek on Sept. 8, 1916, to Nicolaus and Linda (Benit) Kahler. He graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1934. He attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. On May 31, 1938, he married Hermina Schriever at Canova, South Dakota. He worked at A.R. Woods Manufacturing in Luverne. He as a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek.He was Rock County Senior Citizen of the Year in 1997. Irma Schulze, 93, formerly of Gibbon, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at the Mapleton Community Home. Arrangements pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon.
