Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. He is survived by sons, Oren Thorson of Superior, Wis., Noel and his wife Colette Thorson of Cambria, Neil Thorson of Cosmos, Leon and his wife Terry Thorson of Gibbon; stepsons, Randy and his wife Renee Pohl of Waconia, Dale and his wife Cindy Pohl of St. Paul,; 11 grandchildren six stepgandchildren; one great- grandson; brothers; Robert and his wife Erna Thorson of Eagle Bend, Dean and his wife Betty Thorson of Cambria, John and his wife Marlys Thorson of Clear Lake; sister, Patricia and her husband Wallace Bode of Courtland; brothers-in-law Lylon Sr. "Bud" and his wife Dorothy Niemann of Hector, Arlo Olson of Gibbon, mother-in-law, Lulu Niemann of Brownton; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded In death by his wives; son, Dean Thorson; his parents; and one grandson. He was born Jan. 9, 1910, In Lake Crystal to Leonard and Clara (Mennenga) Thorson. He grew up in the Lake Crystal area where he attended school. The family moved to rural Winthrop when he was young boy. On Jan. 25, 1952, he married Eyvonne Niemann in Brownton. The couple moved to rural Courtland where he worked as a soil surveyor for the Minnesota State Highway Department. Eyvonne died on Nov. 15, 1977. He married Ina Pederson in 1978. Ina died on Dec. 19, 1984. He moved to Gibbon when he retired in 1995. He was a member of the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church. Byron A. Broste, 75, of New Ulm, formerly of Hanska, died Tuesday Aug. 31, 1999, in Robbinsdale at the North Memorial Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church In Hanska. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at Firle Funeral Home In Hanska., and continues one hour prior to services at the church. He is survived by his sisters, Marge Laingen of Madelia, Myrtle Frederickson and her husband Don of Hanska, Delphine Domeier and her husband Jim of New Ulm; brother, Burt Broste and his wife Darlene of Worthington; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Arden and brother-in-law Arnie Laingen. He was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Lake Hanska Township to Albert and Olga (Norsby) Broste. In December 1943 he joined the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was honorably discharged In April 1946. He worked as a construction worker. Bertha Harder, 90, of Morgan, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center, Redwood Falls. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Morgan, with burial in the City Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and continues 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. She is survived by brother William Mude of Redwood Falls; and sisters, Theresa Siegfried of Morton, Evelyn Knisly of New Ulm and Sadie Harden of St. Cloud. She was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers Ted, Albert and Carl Mude. She was born June 18, 1909 in Redwood County, to August and Augusta (Steinhaus) Mude. She resided with her family in Redwood County and attended country schools. She married Ervil Harder on Aug. 12, 1929, in Morton. They farmed in Brown County near Morgan. She entered Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in June 1990. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ladies Aid. Vera C. Feldsien, 84, of Anoka, died Aug. 28, 1999. She was born Jan. 8, 1915 in New Ulm, to Fred and Clara Loesch. She is survived by her husband, Fred; sons, Allan and wife Janet, Donald and wife Naomi; daughter, Linda Elliott and husband Gordon; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and lifelong friends. She was buried in Morningside Cemetery in Blaine. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry Loesch; sisters, Olga Barber, Hilda Johnson and Luella Deopere. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Ulm before moving to the Twin Cities in 1961.
