Irma Hulke, 75, of 1501 South Valley Street in New Ulm, formerly of rural New Ulm, died Monday, September 4, 2000 at her home in New Ulm. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Courtland with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. She is survived by her husband, Willard A. Hulke, of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law Rachel and James Harbarth of rual Gaylord, Nancy and Bernie Reinhart of rural New Ulm, Lois and Randy Trump of Faribault, and Linda and Bill Youngblom of rural Lafayette; sons and daughters-in-law James and Jayne Hulke and Robert and Karen Hulke all of New Ulm; a son Richard Hulke of New Ulm; 15 grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edgar and Sally Lueders of Faribault, Leonard and Phyllis Lueders of Austin, Willard and Karen Lueders of Sheboygan, Wis., and Martin and Carole Lueders of Fridley; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harvey and Ardella Hulke of Courtland; a sister-in-law Lillian Rasmussen of New Ulm; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sylvia and Richard Koehler of Hanska. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and two brothers , all in childhood, a sister and brother-in-law Martha and Marvin Wegner; a sister-in-law Dorothy Lueders; and a brother-in-law Clifford Rasmussen. She was born July 14, 1925 at home in Newhall, Iowa to Karl and Adeline (Kolander) Lueders. The family lived in Lakefield and Faribault where she graduated from the Faribault High School in 1943. After high school she attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato where she received her teaching degree in 1945. She then taught school at the Immanuel Lutheran School in rural Courtland. On June 20, 1947 she married Willard Hulke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault. After marriage they farmed near Swan Lake, rural Courtland, and later farmed in rural New Ulm, east of Klossner. They retired from farming and moved to New Ulm in 1992. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Courtland, and a member of the Dorcas Society at church. She had been active as a volunteer in many community and church activities. Matilda Wagner, 9, of New Ulm, formerly of Comfrey, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000 at Oak Hills Living Center, New Ulm. Services are 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Comfrey, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday at the church. there will be a CCW rosary 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Sturm Funeral Home, Comfrey, is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend Lavon Smith of New Ulm. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl; son David; brothers, Isidore, Alphonse, Hyacinth, Leo, and Aloysius; and sisters, Ceclia Wooley, Caroline Schmitt, Evelyn Babler, Marcella, and Matilda. She was born Aug. 1, 1904 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, to William and Lucy (Schumacher) Schmitt. She lived most of her life in Comfrey, attending country school and Comfrey School. She married Earl Wagner on Oct. 8, 1928 in Comfrey. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was part owner of Wagner's Grocery Store, Comfrey. Lona Mae Hauptli, 87, of Wabasso, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at St. Cloud Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at New Avon United Methodist Church, New Avon Township, with burial in Salem United Methodist Cemetery, New Avon Township. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls, and will continue Friday one hour prior to services at the church. Contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 608 SE Ontario St., Minneapolis, MN 55414. Erwin Koreis, 89, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Providence Yakima Medical Center, in Yakima, Wash. Mass of Christian burial will be noon Friday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Yakima with burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Yakima. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home in Yakima. A Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,memorials may be given in Koreis' name to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice in care of the Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife Verna of Yakima; son James and Ann Koreis of Thorp; brother Hilary Koreis of Bellingham, Wash.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Geraldine Hull. He was born Oct. 11, 1910 to Joseph L. and Caroline (Hacker) Koreis, in New Ulm. He worked for Burrow's Motor Company for 22 years, retiring from Turner Implement in 1976. Margaret Simning, 98, of St. Peter, died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at St. Peter Community Health Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Wabasso, with burial in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Thursday with a parish prayer service at 4:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Catholic Church, St. Peter, and at the church Friday, one hour before the Funeral Mass. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Ralph Youngman, St. Peter; one grand daughter, two great, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was born March 15, 1902 in Behmen, Austria to John and Margaret (Ruby) Simon. The family immigrated to America, arrived in Baltimore on May 25, 1907 and rural Wabasso on May 29, 1907. She attending parochial boarding school in Springfield until her mother died, after which she stayed at home to take care of the family. She married Harvey Simning November 24, 1931 in Wabasso. They remained there until moving to St. Peter in 1975. She worked as a cook at Wabasso Public School and did domestic work for many families. She belonged to the St. Monica Society in Wabasso, the St. Mary's Guild in St. Peter, and the St. Peter Senior Citizens. Sister Michael Welch, 82, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000 at Assisi Heights, the Franciscan Mother House, Rochester. Services are Thursday at Assisi Heights Chapel, Rochester,. Visitation begins 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Assisi Heights. She is survived by many family members, and the community of Franciscan Sisters, including her blood sister, Sister Renata Welch of Assisi Heights, Rochester. She spent 30 years at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, as the convent home maker and teacher's aide in the primary grades. She served four different times between 1943 and 1993. Charles Niehoff, 66, of 1915 N. Spring St., New Ulm, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000 at home. Services are 7 p.m. Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, New Ulm. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The cremated remains will be scattered at sea at a later date. He is survived by his wife Shirley; daughters, Teresa Doty of Oak Harbor, Wash., Veronica Braulick of New Ulm, and Cynthia and husband Robert Hansen of LeSueur; sons, John of St. Paul, Christopher and wife LuAnn of Springfield, and Mark and wife Donna of Galesburg, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Phylis and husband Lester Domeier, Elaine Roiger, and Margaret and husband Charles Forster, all of New Ulm, Lorraine and husband Marvin Christle of Carlsbad, Calif., and Mary Lou Pischke of Glendora, Calif.; and a brother, James and wife Maryann of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Donald Roiger and Duwayne Pischke; and mother-in-law Mary Schipplick. He was born Oct. 29, 1933 in St. James, to Lawrence and Louise (Boor) Niehoff. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1952. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952. He married Shirley Bethel on June 8, 1957 in New Ulm. He continued serving with the Navy, retiring in 1972. After returning to New Ulm, he worked for Current Meats and at Schell's Brewery, where he worked as a boilerman and tour guide for 20 years. He was a member of the New Ulm Battery 20 years, and was a 30 year member of the Fleet Reserve Association. Dr. Theodore "Ted" Aaker, 93, formerly of Gaylord, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000 at the St. Francis Hospital, Shakopee. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is one hour before services at the church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord. He is survived by daughters, Janet and husband, George Stevens of Bloomington, and Karen and husband David Minge, of Montevideo; sons, Steven and wife Janine Aaker of New Market, and Douglas Aaker of St. Cloud; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Nielsen and husband, Bjorne of Coon Rapids; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, five brothers and a sister. He was born Feb. 16, 1907, in Minnewaukan, N.D., to Ole S. and Marie (Jeglum) Aaker. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead. His dental training was completed in 1933 at the University of Minnesota Dental School. He began his dental practice in Gaylord in 1933 and continued to practice until 1982. He married Arleen Langhoff on June 26, 1937, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. She died in 1998. In October 1998, he moved to Bloomington to live with his daughter. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was finance secretary. He served on the Gaylord Public School Board, was president of the Community Hospital Board, served as president of the Gaylord Community Club, and was president and secretary of the Gaylord Rotary Club. He served as a Cub Scout leader, scoutmaster and a member of the Minnesota Valley Boy Scout Council, where he was honored with a Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of an Over 60 Band and flew an airplane outside Gaylord. William Forbrook, 73, of Morgan, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Morgan, with burial in the Morgan City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson Funeral Home in Morgan and at the church Thursday, one hour prior to the service. He is survived by his wife Florence; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Leanne of Maple Grove; daughters and sons-in-law, Doreen and Gary Gustafson of Edwardsville, Ill., Lorie and Jeff Hoffbeck of Morgan; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willmar and Lavonne of Franklin, Chuck and Darlene of Rochester, and Louis and Brenda of Sleepy Eye; a sister, Hazel Bohn of Morgan; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Forbrook of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clinton and Elmer and a brother-in-law, Donald Bohn. He was born June 7, 1927 to Louis and Ida (Beilke) Forbrook in Morgan Township, Redwood County. He attended District #51 country school and graduated from Morgan High School in 1944. He married Florence Steinhaus on Sept. 30, 1947 in Morgan. They farmed in Morgan Township until retiring in 1989 and moving to Morgan. He belonged to Zion Lutheran Church where he was an elder and usher.
