   Harold "Chief" Voeltz, 82, of Nicollet died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the Church Cemetery, Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Nicollet American Legion Post #510 of Nicollet.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
   He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Mary Voeltz of Nicollet; grandchilden, Alan Voeltz of St. Peter, Daniel Voeltz of Nicollet, and Christopher Voeltz of St. Peter; a greatgrandson, Aaron Voeltz of St. Peter; a sister Frieda Gregory of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Verona and Bill Wilking of North Mankato, a sister-in-law Shirlee Enter of Nicollet, and a brother-in-law, Richard Smith of Westminster, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Agnes Voeltz on Aug. 1, 1999, a daughter Beverly Voeltz on Dec. 30, 1987, a great granddaughter, a sister-in-law, Mildred Smith, and brothers-in-law Paul Gregory and Lawrence Enter.
   He was born June 24, 1917 in Ogema, Becker County, to Emil and Martha (Otto) Voeltz. On June 15, 1937 he married Agnes Enter at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. After marriage they lived in Nicollet. In 1944 he enlisted in the United States Navy, "Seabees," and served during WWII in both the American and Asiatic Pacific Theatres. He obtained the rank of Chief Carpenter's Mate. After his active military he served for 19 years in the Navy Active Reserves. After his active military service he returned to Nicollet and joined his father in the carpentry trade where they owned and operated "Voeltz Building," working in both the Nicollet and St. Peter areas. He worked there for 36 years before retiring from his own business. For the next six years he worked for the Standard Lumber Company in St. Peter as a crew foreman in construction and then retired. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, a member and past commander of the Nicollet American Legion Post #510 and had also held many other post offices, a member of the Nicollet Conservation Club and had served many years on the clubs board of directors. For over 40 years he also taught gun training to children, which was sponsored by both the conservation club and the DNR. In February 1997 he became a resident of the Mankato House Health Care Center in Mankato where his wife was a resident. The family prefers memorials to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.

   Rose F. Schneider, 84, of Springfield died Sept. 9, 1999 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
   Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30 -10 a.m. Saturday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. There will be a Parish prayer service 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home and a C.C.W. Rosary at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
   She is survived by her sister, Dolly and her husband Albert Hertling of Glenwood; brothers, I.J. "Bud" and wife Dolores Baumann of Tracy, Art and Alice Baumann of Springfield; sisters-in-law Germaine Baumann of Springfield, Evelyn Baumann of Montevideo, Jane Baumann of Wabasso, Adeline and husband Vic Huesner of New Ulm; brothers-in-law Clarence Cramer of Revere, Eugene Buyck of Garvin, and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceeded in death by her parents; her husband Armin; brothers John, Leo, Vincent, Raymond; sisters Josephine Donner, Ann Cramer and Betty Buyck
   She was born Dec. 4, 1914 in Springfield to John and Mary (Nachtmann) Baumann where she grew up and attended St. Raphael's Catholic School. On Oct. 21, 1937 she married Arminn Schneider in New Ulm. Following marriage the couple made their home in New Ulm. Rose returned to Springfield in 1977 following Armin's death. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield and St. Anne's C.C.W.

   Thomas "Tommy" Hayes, 71, of Littleton, Colo, formerly of Comfrey, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at his residence.
   Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Family Funeral Care in Englewood, Colo., with burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery, staging area "B", Denver, Colo., with honors by the U.S. Air Force.
   Visitation will one hour before the service at the funeral home.
   He is survived by his wife Pat; sons, Thomas Hayes of Denver and Patrick Hayes of Boulder; sisters, Verona Lindmeyer of New Ulm, and Patricia and her husband Bob Flynn of Nerstrand; brothers, DeWayne and his wife Betty Jane Hayes of St. Cloud, and Richard and his wife Diane Hayes of Bloomington; sisters-in-law: Helen Hayes of Seal Beach, Calif. and Betty Hayes of Edina; nine nephews and six nieces.
   He was preceeded in death by his parents and brothers James and Vincent Hayes.
   He was born Dec. 9, 1927 in Comfrey to Leo and Blanche (Curley) Hayes. He served in the United States Air Force for four years, receiving the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He maried Elizabeth Jean (Pat) Ray in San Francisco, Calif. on Sept.11, 1954. He was a retired optician. He resided in Littleton since June 1978.
   Memorials are preferred to the American Humane Association, 63 Inverness Drive East, Englewood, Colo., 80112.

   Fritz Larson, 87, of Minneapolis, formerly of New Ulm, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1999 at the Mission Nursing Home in Minneapolis.
   Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with burial to follow in the city cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
   Survivors include his wife Donna of Minneapolis; daughters, Phyllis Bailey and her husband Steve of Hutchinson, Mavis Gomez and her husband Dannie of Bloomington, and Ronda Larson of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; brothers, Carl of Gaylord, Alfred and his wife Dorothy of Morgan; sisters, Alice Larson of Plymouth, Della Johns and her husband Norman of Glenwood, and Edna Lentz of Litchfield; nieces and nephews.
   He was preceeded in death by one brother and two sisters.
   He was born April 26, 1912 in Hamneda, Sweden to Hans and Alma (Svensson) Larson. His family came to the United States when he was one, settling in New Ulm where he attended country schools. He married Donna Knees April 26, 1939 ata the former Frieden's Church in New Ulm. They farmed for many years in Milford Township, retiring to New Ulm in 1975. The couple moved to Sleepy Eye in 1990, and to Minneapolis in 1997. He became a resident of the Mission Nursing Home this past July. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm; served on the Milford Township board, and also the township school board.
