   Doris Jane (Adam) Cranford , 73, of Kissimmee, Fla., and formerly of New Ulm, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, at her home.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of mass.
   The Minnesota Valley Funeral in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

   Dwaine D. Peterson , 71 of Winthrop, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center, of cancer.
   Funeral services are 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19, at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Burial will be in the Winthrop Cemetery, with full military rites by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
   Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Saturday and from 7:30 ­ 11a.m., Sunday at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of services at the church on Sunday.
   Dwaine is survived by his: wife, Bel Peterson of Winthrop; daughter, Katie Ibarra of Winthrop; stepdaughters, Judy Rasche of NYA, MN and Jackie Wilson of New Auburn; stepson, John Lanz of Jackson; four grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren and sisters, Darlene Kotila of Cokato, Joyce Hanke of Hutchinson, Julie Mielke of Glencoe and Shirley Hahn of Hutchinson.
   He was born April 5, 1933, in Brookfield Township, Renville County, Minn., to Joseph and Rose (Buhler) Peterson.
   He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 ­ 1953 during the Korean War.

   Evelyn Schiro , 82, of Gibbon, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at the Hutchinson Community Hospital.
   Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with Pastor Richard J. Kuckhahn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-11:30 a.m., Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday.
   Evelyn is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Jim Weir of Fairfax, and Carol and Robert Larson of Gibbon; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Donna Schiro of Winthrop, and Roger and Sharon Schiro of Gibbon; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorna Shanahan, Wilma Schmidt and her husband, John, and Marlys Tessmer all of Glencoe; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Grenke of Glencoe.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin J. Schiro on Dec. 1, 1990; a daughter, Nancy Schiro on Jan. 28, 1967; sisters, Elda Pautz and Elvira Rubendall; and brothers, Raymond Grenke and Herbert Grenke.
   Evelyn Hilda Elsie was born on May 4, 1922, in Glencoe to Charles and Emma Grenke. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She graduated from Glencoe High School and worked in the Litchfield Hospital.
   On Feb. 16, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ervin J. Schiro in Glencoe. They lived in Cokato, Cosmos, Buffalo Lake and then moved to Gibbon in 1956. Evelyn was a Stanley dealer for many years and also worked at the Gibbon Creamery. She worked as a cook for ten years at the Gibbon Public School and another ten years at Immanuel Lutheran School before she retired. Evelyn was active in Gibbon Senior Citizens and Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Guild. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Michigan Rummy, with her friends and family. Evelyn was a great story writer and an avid reader. She will be remembered for her way of giving advice to all who would listen.

   Wilford H. Schwirtz , 78, of Green Isle, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
   Services are 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 19, at Zion Lutheran Church, Green Isle Township.
   Visitation is Sunday at the church, two hours prior to the service.
   He is survived by his wife, Louise of Green Isle; children, Karen Schatz of Arlington, David of Annandale, Sandra Mathews of Glencoe, Allen of Green Isle, Lisa Schauer of Glencoe and Tammy Overson of Litchfield; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Luanna Goetz of Waconia, Wyman of Eagan, Raymond of Minneapolis, Mavis Huepenbecker of Glencoe and Kenneth Schmitz of Pierz.
   He was born June 17, 1926, near Hamburg to William and Ida (Kamps) Schwirtz.
